PRINCIPAL MISSION: Under the direct supervision of the AVP of Pediatric Wellness, the Registered Dietitian plans, directs and provides nutritional care to patients conducts nutritional assessments and provides nutrition education for patients and members of the medical team. Responsibilities include providing appropriate Nutritional Care for the age populations served (infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric). PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Promote a safe, cooperative and professional health care environment to ensure optimal p[patient care., • Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures, rules and regulations, including but not limited to, absenteeism, ETIME, cellular telephone usage, dress code and rules of conduct., • Makes Customer Service a priority, treating customers (patients, visitors, and co-workers) in a professional manner exercising courtesy and tact. Effectively communicates with patients and others about UCHC services in their area(s) of expertise or responsibility and ensures that concerns, questions or issues reach the right person(s) in UCHC in a timely fashion,, • Interviews patients, families, and/or significant others to obtain diet history necessary in planning the patient's diet,, • Gathers appropriate anthropometric, biochemical, and physical data necessary in assessing patients' nutritional status and documents information accurate in the medical record., • Assesses patients' nutritional status based on standards of nutritional care and passing in a rate level of nutritional risk., • Develops appropriate care plans based on standards of care, including recommending rate diet or nutrition support,, • Reassesses patients based on level of nutritional risk or change in condition and modifies the plan of care as necessary., • Collaborates with members of the health care team on a regular basis in developing and implementing treatment plans and discussions., • Assesses patient/family/significant others' educational needs, readiness to learn, and barriers to learning; provides the education and documents information in the medical record., • Keeps current in the field of nutrition through continuing education to maintain registration status through the American Dietetic Association (75 Continuing Education Units/5-year period). Agency Responsibilities The Dietitian will work with agency staff, including the CFO, to track and monitor all agency food budgets. WSFSSH currently uses a central supplier, AFI, for its food purchases as well as other smaller food vendors. The responsibilities of the dietitian will include: • Monitor each program budget on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, • Provide information on budget status to appropriate staff, • Sign all food invoices on a biweekly basis for each building in accounting office., • Maintain regular contact with the Food Service Director on all food related vendors: central vendor, dairy, meat, and bread vendors., • Responsible for all vendor negotiations and evaluating/changing vendors based on needs of WSFSSH (pricing, ordering, delivery days, reliability, etc.) in conjunction with Food Service Director. JOB SUMMARY RHI seeks a Registered Dietitian (Contract) to support its Food as Medicine program, offering one-on-one nutrition counseling and community education to Red Hook residents. The Dietitian will deliver reimbursable services to eligible clients and facilitate workshops and cooking demos. The ideal candidate is a Registered Dietitian with at least two years of experience in a community-based setting. This is a contract position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES Nutrition Counseling • Provide nutrition education and support to Red Hook residents enrolled in the Food as Medicine program, as well as to other residents struggling with chronic health issues, and those eligible via the 1115 Medicaid waiver., • Keep detailed records of clients seen and workshops conducted for reporting purposes., • Deep connection to and knowledge of the Red Hook community., • Cultural sensitivity to health and food-related outcomes, and utilizes a weight-inclusive and trauma-informed approach to nutrition education., • Computer skills and proficiency with Google (specifically Gmail and Google Drive), • Written and oral fluency in English and Spanish or Mandarin is preferred, • Registered dietitian certification., • At least 2 years of experience working in the public/community health arena., • The RHI work environment is characteristic of a typical indoor office/program environment and the noise level is generally moderate.
