Job DescriptionFamily Assistant Job #: J2379 Position Details: Part-Time, Live-Out Location: Beacon, NY Days: Monday–Friday Hours: 1:00 PM–6:00 PM. The family has some flexibility and may shift the schedule by up to one hour earlier or later for the right candidate. Compensation: $45–$55 per hour, paid via W2 (on the books) Start Date: October 12, 2026 A private family in Beacon, NY is seeking a warm, capable, and proactive Family Assistant to provide household support and assistance with their son’s daily routine and schoolwork. This position combines family support, light household tasks, errands, organization, scheduling, and vendor coordination. The family's 13-year-old son has ADHD and autism with low support needs. He is currently on a modified school schedule and is home after approximately 10:30 AM, completing much of his schoolwork from home. He does not require significant academic tutoring; rather, he benefits from patient support with executive functioning, organization, and staying engaged with his assignments. Main Work Duties: • Provide support with schoolwork and help establish a productive daily routine., • Assist with executive functioning, including getting started on assignments, staying on task, and managing time., • Help break larger or more complex assignments into manageable steps., • Assist with clarifying instructions when he becomes stuck or unsure how to proceed., • Encourage outdoor activities, movement, and appropriate breaks throughout the day., • Coordinate extracurricular activities and related scheduling., • Perform light tidying and household resets., • Load and unload the dishwasher., • Fold laundry and transfer loads between the washer and dryer., • Maintain grocery lists and shop for pantry items, snacks, and household supplies., • Assist with household organization and decluttering projects., • Coordinate vendors, service providers, and maintenance appointments., • Run occasional errands, including library returns and post office trips., • Assist with basic family calendar management, including household and veterinary appointments., • Prepare simple meals or snacks occasionally as needed. Required Qualities: • Warm, patient, and encouraging., • Able to provide structure while remaining calm and flexible., • Smart, creative, and resourceful., • Highly organized and efficient., • Proactive and comfortable taking initiative., • Able to work independently once familiar with the family's routines, • Strong communicator., • Comfortable balancing child-related and household responsibilities., • Able to anticipate needs without requiring a detailed task list. Qualifications: • Prior Family Assistant, Household Assistant, childcare, or similar private-home experience preferred., • Experience supporting school-aged children with homework and daily routines., • Experience working with children with ADHD, autism, neurodivergence, or executive-functioning challenges strongly preferred., • Ability to provide patient guidance with task initiation, organization, time management, and assignment completion., • Comfortable with household organization, errands, scheduling, and vendor coordination., • Comfortable with occasional light cooking., • Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and be comfortable driving as part of the position., • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States., • Strong professional references preferred.
