Job Description General Manager – Skilled Trades Location: Fishkill, NY (In-Person, Daily) Compensation: $150K–$170K base + Bonus | OTE $180K–$250K Reports to: Market Area President (NY Metro) Type: Full-time | High-Ownership Role | Path to MAP (Market Area President) Sector: Skilled Trades (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical) About the Company This private equity-backed skilled trades platform is growing aggressively across the U.S. through organic growth and M&A. The company is now operating at a billion-dollar scale and is on a mission to elevate the trades by building great businesses that take care of their people and customers. The Opportunity This is a rare opportunity to run a $20M+ full P&L business from day one, with the autonomy of a CEO and the growth runway of a high-performance platform. You'll have control of all the levers — sales, operations, hiring, financials — and the ability to shape the business through both organic and inorganic growth. You'll lead a team of 60+ across three trades (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical) with four direct manager reports. With a $7M tuck-in acquisition already under LOI and 15–20% organic growth expected in 2026, the business is on track to cross $30M in P&L within 12 months. This role offers a path to Market Area President within 2–3 years and will play a key part in expanding the company's footprint in the NY Metro area. What You'll Do Full P&L + Operational Leadership * Own all KPIs and drive profitability across a $20M+ multi-trade business * Lead a team of 60+, including four direct management-level reports * Oversee field ops, customer service, sales performance, and budgeting * Manage key metrics: revenue, avg. invoice, customer satisfaction, retention, eNPS Team Development + Culture Building * Build a culture of ownership, accountability, and 5-star service * Inspire followership through charismatic, visible leadership * Hire, mentor, and develop high-performing field and office teams * Foster a blue-collar, mission-driven team ethos Strategic Growth Execution * Execute on tuck-in M&A integrations (starting with a $7M deal in Q1 2026) * Lead the growth of an early-stage Electrical division * Drive 15–20% YoY organic growth across core services * Identify and act on local market expansion opportunities You'd Be a Great Fit If You Have: * A leadership mindset with strong character and “meat-eater” mentality * Experience owning KPIs, managing a team, and ideally a P&L * Deep respect for the trades and ability to lead blue-collar teams * Grit, charisma, and the ability to inspire followership * Strong business acumen: financial, strategic, and operational IQ * Military leadership background (platoon/company level) highly valued * Bachelor's degree required; MBA a plus * Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and tools like ServiceTitan Bonus Points For: * Prior experience in field services, construction, or trades-based business * Veterans with experience in Special Operations or Company Command * Background in finance, consulting, or ops. * Former college athletes or proven leaders in high-pressure environments Why This Role Stands Out * Unprecedented responsibility and autonomy from day one * Real ownership: run your own business with big-league backing * Career accelerator: clear path to MAP and other regional leadership roles * Meaningful impact: build teams, grow P&L, and change lives through trades MilSpec Talent is a boutique headhunting firm that helps our clients get connected with top talent in the industry.
