Job DescriptionAbout the Role You should have a true entrepreneurial spirit, be energized by building things that don't exist yet, and be genuinely obsessed with the experience our customers have when they need help. Support is where laundromat and dry-cleaning operators feel whether Cents is a partner or just a vendor — and this role owns that moment end to end. As we scale across both Cents and LaundroWorks, we are investing in support as a differentiator, not a cost center, and we're looking for a senior leader to build a world-class service experience from the ground up. As Director of Support, you will lead every support function in the business: Software Support, Install Support, Hardware Support, and a brand-new Distributor Support function you'll stand up from scratch. You'll lead four managers and the teams beneath them, including an offshore team, and you'll own the full picture — strategy, structure, staffing, coverage hours, tooling, budget, and every metric that measures support performance. Distributors are central to our growth, and building a focused, deliberate support experience for that channel across both Cents and LaundroWorks is one of your earliest and most visible mandates. You are a strategic leader who will set the long-term vision and own the budget and the roadmap, but you'll also know what's sitting in the queue this morning, what broke on last week's install, and which operator is frustrated and why. You're comfortable leading both software and hardware support, you can build process and structure without smothering a fast-moving team, and you hold an extremely high bar for what customers should experience. You must be relationship-oriented, collaborative, data-driven, and constantly looking for the next thing to improve. Above all else, you are a leader who can get the most out of a team of direct report leaders and those who work for them by developing them into stronger leaders themselves — setting a clear standard, coaching in the moment, giving your managers real ownership of their functions, and holding them accountable to outcomes they helped define. We are looking for a leader of people first, not simply an executor of deliverables. The clearest signal you can give us is a track record of managers who grew under you. We're a hybrid team that works together in our NYC office three days a week. Our in-office anchor days are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, when you'll find the broader team collaborating, meeting, and connecting in person. Tuesdays and Fridays are remote, giving you dedicated time for focused work while still maintaining the flexibility of a hybrid schedule. Key Responsibilities Own the end-to-end support experience across Cents and LaundroWorks — define what world-class service looks like for our operators and hold the organization to that standard Get the most out of four support managers and the teams beneath them — set the standard, coach and develop them into stronger leaders, give them genuine ownership of their functions, and build the structure, hiring plan, and career paths the org needs as it scales Stand up a dedicated Distributor Support function focused solely on the distributor experience across both brands, and make it a driver of channel growth Raise the bar on hardware, install, and distributor execution — install timelines, first-time-fix rates, RMA and escalation paths, and tight coordination with Product, Engineering, and our fulfillment partners Own every support metric — CSAT, NPS, first response time, resolution SLAs, cost per contact, quality and QA — and build the reporting cadence that makes performance visible to the leadership team Build a capacity and coverage model that scales with store growth without scaling cost linearly, including workforce planning, offshore leverage, AI-assisted deflection, self-service, and knowledge content Own the support tooling strategy, roadmap, and budget, and unify the stack so all four functions operate from a common set of tools, data, and escalation paths Serve as the voice of the customer inside the company — funnel patterns and feedback to Product and Engineering, and represent support in roadmap and scope discussions Ad Hoc responsibilities as required Role Requirements At least 5 years leading customer support or technical support teams At least 5 years of operational leadership experience — process design, workforce planning, budgeting, and vendor management Senior leadership experience managing managers — you've led leaders, not just individual contributors, and you've built teams through periods of significant growth A demonstrated track record of developing leaders — managers who grew, got promoted, or took on more responsibility under you Hands-on experience recruiting, interviewing, and hiring — you’ll be building these teams out as we continue to scale, and you know how to source, assess, and close strong support talent Proven track record owning support metrics end to end (CSAT, NPS, response and resolution SLAs, cost per contact) and using data to drive decisions Experience selecting, implementing, and consolidating support tooling; familiarity with AI-assisted support, deflection, and self-service strategies Experience leading hardware, field service, install, or distributor/channel support is strongly preferred, but not required Experience building and improving performance management initiatives through metrics and coaching Experience managing offshore or distributed teams is preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the presence to work directly with senior leadership and with customers A customer-obsessed, roll-up-your-sleeves mindset and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment B.A., B.S. or equivalent degree preferred, but not required About Cents Cents is a New York-based technology company building the leading platform for the $40+ billion laundry and dry cleaning industry, helping laundromats, dry cleaners, and garment care businesses start, manage, and grow. Location: Brooklyn, NY (11238) Employment Type: Part-Time | 2025 hours/week (20 hours/week guaranteed) Schedule: MondayFriday daytime hours, 4-5 hours/day Compensation: $35$40/hour, based on experience Start Date: ASAP Requirements • Maintain a smoke-free & fragrance-free environment, • Must be authorized to work in the United States, • Ability to drive is a plus but not required (access to a family vehicle is available for work use), • Comfortable navigating multiple flights of stairs throughout the day, • Candidates are required to be up to date on recommended vaccinations in line with American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines (including influenza, tetanus, and measles), subject to applicable legal accommodations, • Comfortable working alongside children and a dog About Our Family We are a warm, busy, and down-to-earth family of four living in a three-story Brooklyn brownstone with our two children, ages 2 and 5, and our beloved elderly dog. Both of us work in demanding roles and work often doesn't fully wind down until later in the day. We have a nanny who provides regular childcare, so we're looking for someone whose primary focus is the household and all of the things that keep it running behind the scenes. We're relaxed and easygoing at home, and we value kindness, respect, flexibility, and teamwork. We want those who work in our home to feel like part of our team. Organization and household management are not our natural strengths, and we're ready to hand that off to someone who genuinely enjoys it. We're looking for someone we can trust, communicate openly with, and work alongside for the long-term. We're hoping to find someone who can become a consistent and trusted part of our household. We appreciate people who take pride in what they do, communicate directly, and are comfortable being proactive. Flexibility is important to us, and in return, we want to be the kind of employers who respect the person working in our home, value their contribution, and make sure they know they're appreciated. Who You Are / What We're Looking For You're the kind of person who enjoys making a household feel more organized, cared for, and under control. You naturally notice the little things, what's running low, what has been sitting on the counter for too long, which errand needs to happen, or what could make the day easier, and you enjoy taking care of them. You're naturally one step ahead and take pride in being someone who can look around, see what needs attention, and make it happen. You find satisfaction in walking into a busy, lived in household and bringing order and ease to the day to day. You're also a confident, capable cook who enjoys meal prep and feels comfortable taking the lead in the kitchen. Just as important, you bring a warm, grounded energy to the people around you. You're kind, considerate, easygoing, and flexible, and you're happy to help. You understand that working in someone's home is personal, and you approach that with respect and good judgment. You're comfortable being part of a household team while understanding that everyone has their own role, including the family's nanny. You're able to work independently, communicate openly, and use your own judgement about when to jump in, when to ask, and when to simply handle something yourself. You're also nonjudgemental. You're not the person who walks into a busy house and wonders how it got that way. You're the person who thinks, "Okay, let's get this figured out." You're proactive without being pushy, helpful without needing to be asked, and confident enough to take ownership while still being thoughtful about how you work within a family's home. Ultimately, you're looking for more than a job you can do well. You want to become someone a family can rely on and trust. You can see yourself settling into a household, learning how it works, anticipating what will make their lives easier, and becoming a consistent, valued part of the team. You love creating order, making life run more smoothly, and being the person who quietly makes a hundred little things better. Job DescriptionAbout the Role You'll be the first dedicated recruiter at Cents, and you'll own talent acquisition end to end. That means you’ll be running full-cycle searches across the company and building the hiring system that Cents will use for years. You’ll have the opportunity to build a hiring strategy into a real process: a clear definition of what great hiring looks like here, interview loops that predict performance, managers who know how to interview, and a candidate experience that makes people want to say yes. You'll design it, get leaders to adopt it, and then run it every day. You'll report to the VP of People and partner directly with leaders across the company on their most important hires. Our leaders care deeply about who joins Cents and they're eager for a partner who can bring structure, insight, and momentum to how we hire. The recruiter who thrives here is the one who brings a point of view, grounds it in data, and takes the initiative to move things forward. You'll help shape how this company grows, and you'll see the impact of your work in every team you help build. Key Responsibilities Build the hiring process from the ground up Define what the Cents hiring process should look like, stage by stage, from intake to offer, and get leadership aligned on it. Design structured interview loops for each role family: who interviews, what each stage assesses, and how we decide. Replace gut calls with scorecards and clear debriefs. Set up and own the tooling: the ATS, job templates, sourcing channels, scheduling, and the hiring metrics we track (time to fill, pass-through rates, source quality, offer acceptance). Build the playbooks that make hiring repeatable: intake templates, interview guides, reference and offer processes, and a candidate experience we'd be proud to go through ourselves. Coach managers and guide every step Run kickoff and intake sessions with hiring managers that get to a real, agreed-upon profile before the search starts. Train interviewers on how to run a structured interview, ask better questions, avoid bias, and write feedback that helps the team decide. Stay in the room through the whole process: facilitating pre-briefs & debriefs, push for decisions, and coach through tough calls like a split panel or a competing offer. Drive relationships forward and influence outcomes Build trusted partnerships with our executives and hiring managers. Bring a point of view. Push back on unrealistic profiles, unclear ownership, or slow feedback, and back it with market data and pipeline evidence. Own candidate experience from first touch to first day. Keep momentum in every search and never let a great candidate go quiet. Partner with the VP of People & CFO on workforce planning, comp benchmarking, and how hiring connects to onboarding and performance. Run full-cycle searches Carry roles across engineering, product, sales, customer success, and G&A, including senior and leadership searches. Source proactively & build pipelines through outbound, referrals, and community. Screen, schedule, close. Run compensation conversations, offers, and negotiate with confidence. Tell the Cents story in a way that lands. We're modernizing an industry most people overlook, and the right candidates find that exciting once they understand it. Work smarter with AI and automation Build AI-powered recruiting workflows that automate the repeatable parts of the job, such as sourcing lists, first-touch outreach, scheduling, and interview note synthesis, so your time goes to candidates and hiring managers. Pick the tools, set them up, and teach the team how to use them well. You'll own the recruiting stack end to end. Use the time you win back to raise the bar on the parts that can't be automated: judgment, relationships, and closing. Requirements 6+ years of full-cycle recruiting, with experience in-house at a high-growth startup (Series A through C is the sweet spot). You've hired across functions, not just one. You've built before. You've stood up or rebuilt a hiring process, interview framework, or ATS from scratch, and you can tell us what you'd do differently now. Real influence with senior leaders. You have examples of changing an executive's mind about a profile, a process, or a candidate, and you did it with evidence and relationships rather than escalation. Strong sourcing chops. You can build a pipeline for a hard role without waiting for inbound. Comfort with data. You know your funnel numbers, you use them to diagnose problems, and you can explain them to a CFO. Ownership. You run toward ambiguity, you follow through, and you'd rather ship a good process this month than a perfect one next quarter. Clear, warm communication with candidates and colleagues alike. People should feel better about Cents after every conversation with you. Nice to Haves Experience recruiting for vertical SaaS, SMB-focused software, or sales-heavy orgs. Hands-on experience with Ashby, Greenhouse, or Lever, and with LinkedIn Recruiter. Exposure to People operations beyond recruiting, such as onboarding, comp, or performance. Why this Role? You'll build, not inherit. Most senior recruiters join a machine someone else designed. Here you get a blank page and a leadership team that wants you to fill it. You'll work at the right size. At 100 people, you can know every hiring manager personally and see the impact of a single great hire on the whole company.
