PURPOSE STATEMENT: Preventive Services help keep children safe from abuse, neglect and maltreatment and help them remain at home and in their communities. We partner with at-risk families by assisting them to develop the skills to manage crisis and maintain safety and stability by offering a range of clinical and concrete services to help them thrive. Our culturally competent staff addresses the individual needs of the child, each family member residing with the child, and their social economic environment. Families are seen primarily in their homes and communities. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Case Planner works with the entire family in evidenced based or non-evidenced based model programs. The Case Planner makes safety-focused assessments of the child and family, and provides counseling services, advocacy and refers for concrete services to help stabilize the environment, improve family well-being, and to reduce the future need for child welfare involvement. The Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Biology (E3B) at Columbia University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. The past decade has seen exponential growth in the availability of ecological, evolutionary, and environmental data. Simultaneously, powerful computational and statistical tools have emerged to analyze these vast datasets. These developments are revolutionizing our ability to ask and answer fundamental questions in ecology and evolution. We seek a new faculty member whose research harnesses these datasets and methods to address core questions in ecology and/or evolution. This individual will contribute to teaching and mentoring across undergraduate and graduate levels, train students in computational methods, and conduct research that can deepen our understanding of different areas, including the evolutionary and ecological processes that shape the living world in the past, present, and future, design and evaluate___nature-based solutions to prevent environmental degradation, and inform and manage impacts on human health and wellbeing. Job Description POSITION SUMMARY City Parks Foundation Learning Gardens brings year-round, field and school-based garden science learning to NYC school children and community members. Our gardens are outdoor classrooms that provide vibrant green space in some of New York City’s most densely populated neighborhoods. Job Description POSITION SUMMARY City Parks Foundation seeks up to three college interns to work during the school year within our Seeds to Trees Program. The mission of Seeds to Trees is to educate elementary and middle school students about urban ecology, forest ecology, marine ecology, parks stewardship and conservation using parks as an outdoor classroom. This program blends hands-on classroom sessions and outdoor field experiences in parks or gardens, and offers professional development for partner teachers. The College Intern will assist Seeds to Trees staff to implement the program from mid-March - June, starting in the classroom and ending with field experiences. As part of this opportunity, the intern will be guided and instructed in the facilitation and administration of experiential, environmental STEM programs primarily in parks and with at least one opportunity to visit a school classroom. The Seeds to Trees College Intern reports to the Senior Manager, School Partnerships and works closely with the Seeds to Trees Program Manager and part-time Educators. Job Description POSITION SUMMARY Learning Gardens brings year-round, field and school-based garden science learning to NYC school children and community members. Our gardens are outdoor classrooms that provide vibrant green space in some of New York City’s most densely populated neighborhoods. We operate three gardens in three boroughs. Using our four community gardens, CPF presents engaging interdisciplinary lessons to expand student learning around urban ecology, horticulture, soil science, and sustainable urban food systems. Students in 2nd – 8th grade and their teachers receive resource materials, curricula, and tools to enhance their understanding of ecosystem services and address the unique challenges of growing food in an urban environment. High School interns are trained in garden instruction and horticultural techniques throughout the spring and then work alongside Learning Gardens staff throughout the summer. The Seasonal Garden Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day field operations in our main Learning Gardens located in Brownsville, South Jamaica, and the South Bronx. This includes garden maintenance, repairs, coordinating volunteer events, and assisting the community gardener program. The ideal candidate will be an excellent time manager, able to multitask, very well-organized, and an effective communicator. This is a seasonal, 8-month position reporting to the Director of Education and assisting the school day and internship program managers.
