Job Description Uncommon Schools is seeking a Senior HVAC Technician (Snr HVAC Tech) to join the charter network’s New Jersey Facilities team. This position provides an opportunity for an experienced HVAC technician with at least seven (7) years' relevant experience to work with a dedicated facilities group, deepen his/her technical skills, and help ensure that Uncommon provides well-maintained, comfortable, and safe educational facilities for our students and staff. Uncommon’s portfolio in New Jersey comprises buildings constructed from the very early 1900s through the early 2020s, operating HVAC systems dating from 1966 to the recent past few years. As ambient comfort is essential to a productive learning and teaching environment, the impact of this individual’s attentiveness will be felt and deeply appreciated across the region. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Facilities Management Team, the HVAC Service Technician will perform all technical work necessary to inspect, maintain, repair, and modify HVAC system in our buildings. With expertise in HVAC – and to a lesser extent in construction and plumbing – in multi-family, schools, and commercial buildings, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting minor HVAC projects and managing larger ones and ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. The HVAC Service Tech will partner with senior Facilities team members and outside consultants on the planning, coordination, and supervision of mechanical construction and repair activities implemented by outside vendors, will ensure project timelines are met and ensure quality control standards are followed, mentor junior staff, and handle all HVAC-related communication with stakeholders. The DOO Fellowship is based on a foundation of four core elements that are aligned to the competencies of Uncommon leaders. Each element is designed to build Fellows’ capacity towards becoming effective DOOs. These include Professional Development, Experiential Learning, Practical Application and Reflective Practice. The DOO Fellowship typically lasts one year; however, the length of time will vary based on open positions and DOO Fellow readiness. Fellows should expect to work in multiple locations and gradespans within the region. Fellow placement is based on the region’s needs as well as Fellows’ growth areas and matching them with host DOOs to best support their development. Professional Development All Fellows will attend a series of professional development workshops throughout the Fellowship. The subject matter of these workshops is grounded in the leadership competencies that DOOs are evaluated and developed on. Experiential Learning Feedback and coaching, especially when individualized, are critical tools that will support the Fellow’s growth as a leader. Fellows will engage in experiential learning activities, and receive feedback targeted at their individualized areas of growth. The SPC is the executor of various school systems including assessments, facilities, student food service, staff & student technology, and event planning. As a key member of the Foundation's leadership team, the Director will be a trusted advisor to the President of the Foundation, Senior Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer of the University, Foundation Board of Directors, and senior staff-ensuring financial integrity, operational excellence, and sustainable growth while aligning resources to advance the Foundation's mission. External Relations & Fundraising Support: -Partner with Development and Advancement teams to evaluate complex gifts, manage donor-advised funds, and communicate financial impact. -Lead coordination of the annual audit and preparation of the IRS Form 990, and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, GAAP, GASB, IRS, and nonprofit accounting standards. -Provide oversight of an endowment and investment portfolio in collaboration with the Investment Committee and OCIO. -Develop and maintain a working knowledge of foundations, pooled asset investments, charitable giving opportunities and strategies, and structured noncash donations. -Manage third-party vendor relationships and contract negotiations. -May supervise staff as assigned. -Support executive leadership in evaluating complex gifts and assets. -Help craft compelling financial narratives for fundraising and strategic initiatives. -Act as a visible ambassador of the Foundation's mission.
