Job Description Currently seeking a qualified candidate for Electrical Construction Inspector Position, with 7 to 10 years’ or more experience to join our construction management team working on a NYCDEP Construction project in the Queens, NY. Construction Inspector will utilize their knowledge of electrical codes and prior experience in construction inspection, QA / QC and report documentation, on various construction and/or reconstruction projects for municipal water and wastewater treatment plant, infrastructure, energy or manufacturing facilities or other heavy construction projects. Inspector will report to Resident Engineer and will perform daily construction electrical inspections, coordination, testing oversight, commissioning and verification of Contract Document compliance on High, Medium and Low voltage systems. Will also conduct inspection of instrumentation and controls, communications and security systems. Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to: • Perform inspection of electrical installations, including detailed inspections of heavy utility and electrical distribution systems, underground conduit duct banks, and conduit systems ensuring conformance to Contract Documents., • Ensure all materials associated with electrical installations are in accordance with approved submittals and product data to ensure compliance with appropriate codes and specifications., • Interpret drawings and specifications., • Inspect and determine deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents., • Monitor all required field testing., • Document instances of material and/or installation non-compliance when necessary., • Advise the Resident Engineer and Contractor of conditions requiring correction., • Monitor and document contractor resource utilization (labor, materials and equipment) for field changes, and time and material work and assist with negotiation of basic field construction changes., • Attend a variety of construction meetings to administer the contract requirements; provide input and assist in interpreting specifications, drawings and other technical details., • Coordinate contractor activities with other prime contractors and owner’s activities., • Communicate all pertinent information to the construction and design project managers., • Work closely with the project’s electrical engineering design staff ensuring quality electrical installations., • Verify equipment and materials installation for payment purposes., • Maintain Payment Quantity documentation., • Perform mathematical calculations as necessary during inspection activities., • Prepare detailed daily activity and progress reports on e-Builder. Minimum Required Qualifications: 8 -10 years’ experience in the construction industry specializing in electrical installations, engineering or inspection. Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field of study or a HS Diploma along with Continuing Education Diploma or Certification in Electrical Construction related area. Certifications/Licenses - Ideal candidate would possess a New York State Journeyman Electrician License. Extensive knowledge and experience of National Electric Code, NFPA 70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace, electrical inspection practices and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain effective working relationships owner, construction management staff and contractors, utility company representatives, regulatory agencies, and other public and private organizations. Able to prepare detailed record documentation of work in progress.
