Job Description Maintenance Technician - Direct Hire Opportunity - 1st Shift Job Description This role focuses on repairing, maintaining, and improving manufacturing equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The Maintenance Technician performs advanced troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment, while supporting new equipment installations and continuous improvement initiatives within a dynamic manufacturing environment. Responsibilities • Repair and maintain assigned manufacturing equipment and related systems throughout the facility to ensure reliable operation., • Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on facility, production, and utility equipment, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems., • Interpret and work from schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and technical documentation to diagnose issues and support repairs and installations., • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and minimize unplanned downtime., • Respond promptly to equipment failures and emergency maintenance situations, ensuring safe, effective, and timely resolution., • Support equipment installations, upgrades, commissioning, and decommissioning, including assisting with mechanical and electrical setup., • Maintain detailed and accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, parts usage, and equipment history in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)., • Identify root causes of recurring equipment issues and recommend corrective actions, process changes, or equipment improvements., • Monitor, track, and help manage key spare parts and inventory required for equipment repairs throughout the facility., • Perform basic diagnostics, including visual inspections and use of test equipment, to quickly identify equipment problems., • Apply lockout/tagout procedures and other safety practices when working on equipment to maintain a safe work environment., • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers to schedule and support maintenance work as needed., • Assist with facility maintenance tasks such as basic 120V electrical work, painting, wall patching, and light plumbing when required., • Work methodically and complete all required checklists, forms, and documentation to ensure maintenance tasks are fully and accurately recorded. Essential Skills • At least 5 years of experience performing maintenance and preventive maintenance on machines in a manufacturing environment., • At least 5 years of experience troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems., • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting machines, identifying root causes of problems, and completing all necessary repairs., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and drawings to support troubleshooting, repairs, and installations., • Proficiency in performing basic diagnostics, including visually inspecting equipment and identifying likely faults., • Ability to use a voltmeter to measure voltage and current for low-voltage electrical systems., • Experience with mechanical systems, mechanical troubleshooting, and hydraulic equipment., • Experience with equipment installation and supporting commissioning activities., • Knowledge and practical use of lockout/tagout procedures for safe maintenance work., • Experience working with both low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems, up to 480V supply., • Ability to maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation in a structured and detailed manner., • Capability to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, or willingness to be trained as required., • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to completing maintenance tasks and checklists. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Previous experience coordinating with vendors or contractors for maintenance and repair work., • Basic knowledge of facility maintenance, including 120V electrical work, painting, wall patching, and plumbing., • Experience with CNC or CMM maintenance, which is considered a strong plus., • Background in fabrication, such as building brackets, using a chop saw, drill press, or MIG welder., • Familiarity with hydraulic heated presses, heaters, PLC-controlled equipment, air compressors, chillers, and industrial ovens., • Comfort working in an environment with custom-built presses and specialized manufacturing equipment., • Strong organizational skills to track parts, tools, and maintenance activities., • Ability to work effectively in a tight-knit team environment and communicate clearly with peers and leadership. The facility operates under ITAR regulations and manufactures composite parts for aerospace applications, providing a highly technical and safety-conscious environment. Equipment includes hydraulic heated presses, custom-built presses, heaters, PLC-controlled systems, air compressors, chillers, ovens, and electrical systems up to 480V. The work involves both production and facility maintenance, with exposure to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems in a hands-on industrial setting, and adherence to all safety, lockout/tagout, and facility procedures.
