Job Description Trusts & Estates Associate (Private Wealth & Tax) Seniority: Mid-Senior Level Associate (5+ years) Location: Greenwich, CT Schedule: 1,800 annual billable expectation Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 Comprehensive benefits which include a 10% annual bonus firmwide, plus additional performance-based incentives Reports To Partner & Co-Chair, Trusts & Estates Practice Purpose of the Role Mandelbaum Barrett PC seeks a highly skilled, team-oriented Trusts & Estates Associate to join our Private Wealth Practice Group in Greenwich, CT. This position is ideal for a mid- to senior-level attorney with deep experience in high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) estate planning, wealth preservation, and complex tax strategy. Working closely with Partner Andrea Fraleigh and our collaborative team, you will advise clients in Connecticut and New York on sophisticated domestic and cross-border wealth strategies. While advising aging clients on late-stage asset protection forms part of this work, the primary focus is on estate tax mitigation, business succession, and the creation and administration of complex trust vehicles. Key Responsibilities • Complex Estate Planning: Design, draft, and implement comprehensive estate plans for HNW and UHNW clients, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts (SLATs, GRATs, ILITs, Dynasty Trusts, Special Needs Trusts)., • Tax Strategy & Administration: Support estate and trust administration, prepare and review accountings, and assist with federal and state estate, gift, and fiduciary income tax returns (Forms 706, 709, 1041)., • Asset Preservation for Aging Clients: Provide strategic and compassionate guidance to aging clients focused on minimizing estate tax liabilities and structuring multigenerational wealth preservation., • Corporate & Business Succession: Collaborate with corporate and real estate teams to support business succession planning, drafting LLC operating agreements, FLPs, and shareholder agreements., • Probate & Litigation Support: Assist with probate proceedings and fiduciary disputes, including contested wills and estate-related litigation matters., • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. LLM in Taxation or Estate Planning strongly preferred., • Bar Admissions: Admitted to and in good standing with the Connecticut and New York State Bars., • Experience: 5+ years of experience in HNW trusts & estates, tax planning, and trust administration., • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of federal and state tax laws, GST tax, and complex trust administration., • Skills: Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills; superior written and verbal communication; client-service excellence suitable for UHNW clientele., • Bonus: Experience in probate litigation and/or international estate planning is a plus., • Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 annually (commensurate with experience and qualifications)., • Bonuses: Eligible for discretionary year-end bonuses, merit-based increases, and origination credit., • Benefits: Comprehensive package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; 401(k) retirement plan; paid time off; and access to voluntary programs.
