Job DescriptionDescription: Position Summary The HVAC and Plumbing Estimator/Sales Representative is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing customer relationships, and preparing accurate and competitive estimates for both HVAC and plumbing systems. This role combines technical estimating expertise with customer-facing sales responsibilities to drive revenue growth and ensure successful project outcomes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Sales & Customer Relations • Identify and pursue residential HVAC and plumbing sales opportunities., • Conduct on-site consultations to evaluate customer needs and present system options., • Prepare and present proposals, close sales, and guide customers through the sales process., • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to promote repeat business and referrals. Estimating & Proposal Development • Evaluate job sites, blueprints, and specifications to develop accurate cost estimates for HVAC and plumbing systems., • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure feasibility and scope alignment., • Prepare detailed estimates, proposals, and material take-offs., • Ensure all estimates comply with local codes, company standards, and safety regulations. Product Knowledge & Technical Expertise • Recommend equipment and system solutions based on performance, efficiency, and customer needs., • Stay informed on industry trends, product updates, and code changes in both HVAC and plumbing., • Understand and articulate the value of different system configurations and upgrades. Administrative & Reporting • Maintain accurate records of estimates, proposals, sales activity, and project status., • Use estimating tools and CRM software to manage pipeline and track performance., • Report regularly to management on goals, progress, and market trends. Requirements: Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) • 3+ years of estimating and/or sales experience in HVAC and/or plumbing trades., • Strong understanding of HVAC and plumbing systems, installation methods, and building codes., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical documents., • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills., • Proficiency with estimating software, CRM tools, and Microsoft Office., • Field and office-based role with regular site visits and customer meetings., • May require flexible hours to accommodate client schedules., • Prolonged screen viewing., • Lifting up to 25 pounds. The ideal candidate will have strong ground-up commercial estimating experience, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously. Key Responsibilities • Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial ground-up projects from conceptual through final bid stages., • Perform quantity take-offs for all trades and develop comprehensive scopes of work., • Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals, ensuring competitive pricing and scope alignment., • Prepare and maintain bid logs, cost breakdowns, and historical cost data for future pricing reference., • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and clients to provide value engineering recommendations and budget optimization strategies., • Review plans, specifications, and addenda to ensure accurate and complete bids., • Participate in bid walkthroughs, pre-bid meetings, and client presentations as needed., • Assist with change order pricing, schedule of values, and project buyout support during project turnover., • Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and design professionals to ensure consistent bid coverage and competitive pricing. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred., • 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction (ground-up preferred)., • Proven experience estimating projects such as auto dealerships, retail centers, warehouses, and shopping complexes., • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, market pricing, and trade sequencing., • Proficiency with estimating software (such as Procore Estimating, Sage, or Bluebeam Revu) and Microsoft Excel., • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy., • Ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment., • Strong written and verbal communication skills; professional demeanor when representing the company.
