Job Description Senior Estimator Redwood City, CA 94063 / Livermore, CA 94550 • Reports To: Chief Estimator, • Region: Companywide, • Pay Scale: $155,000 - $190,000 OVERVIEW: • Responsible for leading the estimating efforts for projects within the assigned office, including complex conceptual, negotiated, and hard-bid estimates. This role partners closely with project managers, internal support teams, and clients to drive estimating strategy, manage risk, and deliver accurate, competitive, and comprehensive cost estimates ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • This position requires the skills to accomplish the following minimum duties, plus other duties that may be assigned, • Prepare comprehensive commercial and residential estimates in accordance with established bid procedures and company standards, • Lead subcontractor bid evaluations, including trade and subcontractor selection, scope of work development, bidding requirements, and proposal qualifications, • Attend and actively participate in client and design meetings during the preconstruction phase, • Develop preliminary construction schedules for estimates when required, • Review plans, specifications, bidding requirements, and owner submission requirements to ensure accurate bids and budgets, • Prepare complete bid and budget proposals, including general conditions, detailed trade cost breakdowns, clarifications, exclusions, and required owner bid forms, • Lead, coordinate, and manage estimating team members on larger or more complex projects, • Review "For Contract” drawing lists to ensure accuracy and alignment with contract documents, • Review plans and specifications for accuracy and oversee the management, processing, and distribution of RFIs throughout the preconstruction process, • Prepare detailed trade scope takeoffs to support bid and budget development, • Serve as the primary point of contact for subcontractor inquiries related to bidding, • Provide value engineering recommendations and perform cost study analyses, • Prepare and review subcontractor comparison sheets for evaluation and selection, • Prepare thorough estimate turnover packages for successful transition to project teams, • Prepare owner and project manager bid books, • Assist project teams with post-bid buyout activities, • Prepare subcontractor call lists and perform follow-up to ensure full bid coverage, • Attend job walks during the preconstruction phase and coordinate subcontractor participation, • Maintain strong, positive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders, • Train, mentor, and support Estimators, Project Engineers, and Interns QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered for this position, an individual must satisfy the following qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related construction discipline preferred, • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the construction industry performing responsibilities comparable to those outlined above preferred, • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity preferred COMPETENCIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the following: Technical & Software Proficiency • Intermediate to advanced level in Microsoft Office 365 Applications (Word, Excel, Teams, MS 10/11 and Outlook), • Intermediate level in Procore or similar database management software, • Beginning to intermediate level understanding of digital images, google docs, SharePoint, OneDrive and similar document management systems Organizational Skills • Strong organizational skills, flexibility and the ability to prioritize work assignments, • Extreme attention to detail, • Talent for performing multiple tasks simultaneously, quickly and accurately under pressure, • Resourceful and responsive, • Punctual and reliable attendance during regular hours Communication Skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • Professional in both demeanor and appearance, • Discretion and maturity in managing confidential information, • Exceptional judgment – knowing when to ask for more information, • Capacity to manage stressful situations without impacting job performance ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., sit, walk, stand, bend, lift, twist, turn, and reach., • The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
