Job DescriptionJob Title: Junior Low-Voltage Mechanic Location: Brick, NJ Pay: $20-$28 an hour Job Description The Junior Low-Voltage Mechanic supports commercial electrical construction projects by assisting with low-voltage cabling tasks, including wire pulling, cable routing, and structured cabling support. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience alongside senior technicians and provides a clear pathway to grow into a full Low-Voltage Mechanic position. The ideal candidate is reliable, eager to learn, and comfortable working in active construction environments. Responsibilities • Assist with pulling low-voltage cabling, including Cat5/6, coax, and fiber, under the direction of senior mechanics and lead technicians., • Prepare and maintain cable pathways to ensure clean, organized, and efficient routing throughout commercial construction sites., • Support structured cabling installations by routing, dressing, and managing cables according to project specifications and industry standards., • Use basic hand and power tools such as fish tape, ladders, and drills safely and effectively to complete daily tasks., • Label cables and pathways accurately to support proper identification, troubleshooting, and future maintenance., • Follow instructions from senior technicians and lead mechanics to complete assigned tasks on schedule and to quality standards., • Maintain clean, organized work areas and ensure tools and materials are stored safely at the end of each shift., • Perform physical tasks such as pulling wire, lifting materials, and working on ladders and in ceiling spaces as required by the project., • Collaborate with team members on active construction sites to support efficient project completion and a safe work environment., • Demonstrate strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability by consistently reporting to assigned job sites and completing daily responsibilities. Essential Skills • 1–3 years of experience as a low-voltage helper or electrical helper in construction environments., • Hands-on experience with low-voltage wire pulling, including Cat5/6, coax, and fiber assist., • Ability to perform structured cabling support, including cable routing and management., • Basic proficiency with tools such as fish tape, ladders, and drills., • Ability to lift, pull, and maneuver cabling and materials safely throughout the workday., • Comfort working on ladders and in ceiling spaces in active commercial construction sites., • Basic understanding of low-voltage systems such as security, data, audio-visual, and access control., • Strong communication skills to follow directions clearly and coordinate with team members., • Proven reliability, strong work ethic, and consistent attendance on construction projects., • Reliable transportation to travel to various commercial job sites as needed.
