A unique opportunity for an experienced up-and-coming Due Diligence Specialist who is interested in helping grow our Phase I & Phase II Environmental departments. We are seeking a team player who knows what it takes to get the job done. The successful candidate will be energetic, can learn quickly, perform professionally, and effectively manage multiple projects concurrently. The candidate must have a solid educational background, be self-motivated with a professional attitude, a “can-do” and “hands-on” attitude and manage projects efficiently and effectively by setting and meeting deadlines. The candidate must have a demonstrated skill set to effectively communicate, anticipate project needs, organizational skills and problem-solving and be able to mentor and teach junior staff in all aspects of environmental investigations, including soil, groundwater and soil vapor investigations. The candidate must have experience with using and maintaining environmental field equipment and have a basic understanding of remedial design and construction oversight. The successful candidate must have demonstrated strength in report preparation and follow-up and a strong desire to produce a quality work product that meets or exceeds client and regulatory expectations. The candidate will be a member of the EHS Team which includes specialists in Indoor Air Quality, Mold Assessments, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Training, Phase I ESA, Cooling Tower Management, and other environmental-related fields, and will have the opportunity to learn and work in many of these fields. Primary Responsibilities: • Contact regulatory and municipal agencies and subcontractors/vendors to coordinate field activities and obtain project-related information., • Communicate effectively and efficiently with contractors, clients, and team members., • Subcontractor oversight., • Oversight of drilling operations including soil characterization and installation of monitoring wells or temporary wells., • Soil, groundwater, and air sampling in compliance with State and Federal standards, • Conduct site inspections and project-related research (historic data, regulations, etc.)., • Evaluate field and laboratory data., • Data management, compilation and evaluation of data., • Writing drafts of field reports and other technical documents., • Figure/map/boring log production., • Preparation of work plans, reports, and cost estimate reports., • Recordkeeping and tracking., • Adhere to ALC quality assurance and quality control., • Planning subsurface explorations, including appropriate subsurface testing and investigation of soil, groundwater, and soil vapor., • Developing Work Plans for regulatory or municipal agency approval., • Environmental construction observations and oversight to ensure compliance with work plans., • Demonstrating creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and usual field-related technical problems., • Participates in developing corrective measures and procedures., • Reviewing technical specifications and related documents for proposal opportunities., • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, or Environmental Science, • 5+ years of field experience in Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical capabilities, • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, • Very good organizational skills., • Knowledge of soil characterization and groundwater sampling techniques, • The candidate must be proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint, to prepare technical reports and spreadsheet data entry, • 40 Hours OSHA HAZWOPER certification, • 30 Hour OSHA Health and Safety Card, • A valid driver’s license in good standing is preferred, • The candidate must also be able to meet the physical demands associated with performing fieldwork, including lifting heavy equipment, working in a standing position for extended periods, etc. ALC Environmental provides environmental consulting services throughout the NYC Metropolitan Area and nationwide.
