Job Summary: The Principal Environmental Scientist provides advanced technical expertise and leadership for federal environmental projects, with emphasis on soil and groundwater remediation under CERLA and RCRA programs. This position plays a critical role in designing, managing, and implementing complex remediation projects for federal clients including U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Requirements: Essential Duties: · Serve as technical lead on federal environmental remediation projects involving soil and groundwater contamination. · Develop and implement investigation and cleanup strategies, including sample plans, contaminant delineation, and remedial action design. · Interpret complex environmental data and develop scientifically sound conclusions, recommendations, and clean up strategies. · Ensure compliance with CERCLA, RCRA, and related USACE and federal regulatory frameworks. · Prepare and review technical reports, work plans, and proposals. · Support proposal and pricing development with technical knowledge. · Serve as client contact for technical discussions, participate in site visits and client meetings. · Collaborate closely with project managers to ensure deliverables, budgets and performance goals are met. · Manage environmental staff. Minimum Education and Experience: · Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or related field. · 10+ years of progressive experience in environmental consulting, hydrogeology, and soil/groundwater remediation. · 8+ years experience with federal contracting including USACE. · Professional Geologist (PG), Register Geologist (RG), or Project Management Professional (PMP) required. · Demonstrated success in performance-based cleanup projects. Preferred Experience and Qualifications: · 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification. · Proficiency in GIS, data visualization and environmental modeling software. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: · Deep technical understanding of subsurface environments and remedial action technology. · Proficient in evaluating complex sites with multiple contaminant plumes and recommending effective solutions. · Strong organizational and leadership skills, with ability to manage multiple tasks. · Strong knowledge of USACE reporting standards, safety programs, and project management processes. · Strong technical writing and communication skill. · Strong communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable representing ESC to clients and regulatory agencies. Other Requirements: · Valid driver’s license. · Ability to gain access to military installations. Work Environment: · Combination of office and field work. · Office work primarily based in Overland Park, KS, with a hybrid schedule (Tuesday – Thursday in office). · Travel required for project work, field work, and client engagements. Physical Abilities: · Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. of equipment. · Ability to walk, hike, and work in outdoor environments, including rugged or uneven terrain, for extended periods. · Ability to work in varying weather conditions (rain, heat, cold). · Ability to work long shifts during field mobilizations. Salary. The base salary range for this position is between $100,000.00 to $140,000.00. The actual base salary offered depends on factors, including but not limited to, qualifications, years of relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, business need, and market demand. Job Description Assistant Geologist Kansas City, MO 12 months Description: The Assistant Geologist will assist on a variety of environmental based tasks as required by the project including federal, state, local, and commercial clients. This position is responsible for field sampling, investigations, and report writing. • Assist with field related activities including logging soils, air monitoring during investigation and remediation activities, installation of groundwater monitoring wells, collection of soil and groundwater samples for laboratory analysis, and collection of soil for physical testing., • Assist in assessing soil and groundwater data, developing soil and groundwater sampling plans, data compilation for soil, air and groundwater analytical results., • Assist with proposal and report writing for environmental based projects., • Assist in coordinating and scheduling subcontractors for field investigation activities and assisting with site remediation planning and implementation., • Assist in coordinating laboratory analysis appropriate to the proper identification and evaluation of samples., • Assist with on-site field monitoring to document compliance with various federal, state, and local permit requirements during project construction., • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred., • Involvement on campus or in the community preferred., • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located., • Performs other duties as assigned., • Bachelor Degree in Geology or related Environmental degree required., • Related consulting experience.
