Job Description WEST SIDE FEDERATION FOR SENIOR AND SUPPORTIVE HOUSING Social Worker I (Bilingual /Spanish) The Social Worker I works as part of the social service team. They report to the Clinical Coordinator, or Director of Clinical and Social Services, while working closely with their Building Manager. A Social Worker I is an exempt employee who is required to have a Masters’ Degree. They are expected to be able to work autonomously while developing 1:1 relationships with the residents. This relationship will enable the Social Worker I to provide a comprehensive range of social work services to the residents and enable the residents to establish and maintain safe and independent lifestyles in the community. WSFSSH strongly supports M.S.W. level social workers obtaining their licensing. We offer study groups for staff who are preparing to take their exam. WSFSSH will also pay for a study course if needed, and pays for up to 2 licensing exams, as well as registration/licensing fees. Once a MSW staff member has obtained their LMSW, WSFSSH will cover reasonably priced ceu credits in order to meet licensing requirements. In addition, WSFSSH will provide weekly clinical supervision by a LCSW, and because WSFSSH is a waivered agency with the NYS Education Dept, a LMSW's work experience will count towards their LCSW. Typically, after 3 years of full time employment, a LMSW will be eligible to apply for their LCSW. They report to the Clinical Coordinator, or Director of Clinical and Social Services, while working closely with their Building Manager. A Social Worker I is an exempt employee who is required to have a Masters’ Degree. They are expected to be able to work autonomously while developing 1:1 relationships with the residents. This relationship will enable the Social Worker I to provide a comprehensive range of social work services to the residents and enable the residents to establish and maintain safe and independent lifestyles in the community. WSFSSH strongly supports M.S.W. level social workers obtaining their licensing. We offer study groups for staff who are preparing to take their exam. WSFSSH will also pay for a study course if needed, and pays for up to 2 licensing exams, as well as registration/licensing fees. Once a MSW staff member has obtained their LMSW, WSFSSH will cover reasonably priced ceu credits in order to meet licensing requirements. Job Description Prevention Programs provide counseling and case management services to families to help them develop strategies to thrive and succeed together as a family and not have their children removed and become part of the child welfare system. The Intake Coordinator will be responsible for taking, monitoring and tracking referrals for all Brooklyn prevention programs to ensure that the programs are fully utilized. The Intake Coordinator will actively outreach and do presentations to ACS and community resources to generate referrals. Reports to: Senior Program Director Location: 503 Fifth Ave. Brooklyn, NY Hours: 35 hours, Non-exempt Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 Major Duties: • Works very closely with the 2 Brooklyn Prevention Program Directors to ensure referrals meet all program requirements and utilization needs., • Screens all telephone and walk-in referrals and assigns to appropriate program., • Maintains a shared online referral log system for each program., • Redirects inappropriate referrals to other resources., • Follows-up with program on referral status., • Ensures all referrals have a disposition within 10 days., • Enters and tracks all information into the PROMIS database system., • Successfully registers Advocate cases into PROMIS database system., • Troubleshoots challenges with Advocate cases., • Participates in ACS Early Engagement Conferences, when possible, to assess appropriateness for prevention services., • Initiates, builds and maintains appropriate relationships with ACS liaisons and community contacts., • Participate in community, agency and staff events when necessary, • BA required, MSW or related master’s degree preferred., • 2 years’ experience in child welfare setting required, prevention experience a plus., • Spanish speaking preferred., • Knowledge of PROMIS and Connections., • Experience with SSO-SMP systems a plus., • Must have a commitment to work from a strength based and/or youth development perspective., • Basic computer skills; Microsoft, Excel and Outlook.
