Job Description JOB OVERVIEW The shift supervisor plays a prominent and visible role, necessitating a mature demeanor and thoughtful approach to problem-solving, communication, and follow-up. They are tasked with championing the environment and upholding the performance standards set by the director of operations, ensuring objectives are met even in their absence. The shift supervisor provides direction, guidance, and training to shelter staff in collaboration with the director of operations. The shift supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing operational, security, and maintenance personnel. They will also conduct training for new staff and ensure compliance with operational policies and procedures. Overtime shifts may be necessary. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Demonstrate courtesy and professionalism when assisting clients, staff, or other officials., • Ensure the safety of all residents and staff members., • Assist the Director in creating work schedules and assignments for staff., • Conduct regular rounds to ensure staff are present in their designated areas., • Compile and submit shift reports via logbook and Midway Living portal throughout shift., • Act as a liaison with external agencies and attend relevant meetings as required., • Record the entry and exit of all residents, staff, and visitors; complete census forms; and ensure all events are logged in the logbook and Midway Living portal., • Maintain accurate and up-to-date daily census records, ensuring CARES is updated daily and nightly rosters are submitted., • Enforce curfew regulations and implement all necessary programmatic requirements as outlined by the program director and DHS., • Monitor recreational rooms, laundry facilities, and cafeteria to ensure residents adhere to schedules., • Ensure the security of the facility by overseeing the surveillance system., • Ensure thorough, complete, and timely incident reporting in the absence of the director., • Document and respond to incidents, client issues, and complaints, including implementing crisis intervention procedures., • Assist with intake processes for new and returning clients, submitting them for approval as required., • Create shift reports at the conclusion of each shift., • Maintain records of safety, fire, and building inspections., • Ensure all fire and safety equipment is always functional through regular monitoring., • Supervise staff and assign tasks as needed to maintain operations., • Support the shelter program director in developing and implementing new unit procedures., • Assist staff in making appropriate referrals and resolving conflicts between residents and staff., • Regularly update progress on the Midway Living portal., • Assume duties of Residential Aides when necessary., • A minimum of two years of experience working with homeless families and/or residential services, • High School Diploma or equivalent, • Valid F02, • Valid F80 [required within 90 days of hire], • Professionalism, • Fluency in both English and Spanish is preferred, • Proficient attention to detail, • Proficient in respectful and effective communication, • Interpersonal skills, • Leadership and administrative skills, • Proficiency in time management, • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with a team, • Proficient in organizing information, • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with ability to adapt to software applications, • Knowledge of food/cafeteria service, • Ability to lift, push, and carry up to 50 lbs., as needed., • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods., • Capability to climb stairs and ladders as needed for tasks., • Dexterity to operate cleaning equipment [e.g. brooms, mops, vacuums, etc.], • Capacity to work with PPEs when necessary., • Capable of working in various positions [e.g., reaching overhead, working in tight spaces]., • Capability of working in areas with possible exposure to various weather conditions [if required to work outdoors]., • Ability to work in high-traffic areas with frequent interaction with staff, residents, and visitors., • Capacity to work in busy areas that may be noisy from residents, equipment, alarms, or facility operations., • Ability to work in fast-paced and physically demanding work setting.
