Housekeeper Cook of Mainland China-style Food. (Upper West Side)

Family of four (two early teenage daughters) seek live-in Housekeeper / Cook. The parents are originally from China and need the cook to be able to prepare mainland China-style food. Employee will be responsible for regular, thorough cleaning of the family’s 4-bedroom apartment, grocery shopping, and keeping all household necessities stocked. Also, making 5 dinners weekly for the family and other meals as needed. Individual will have their own private suite. The family is very well-educated and kind. Requirements - Minimum 8 years’ housekeeper experience - High standards for household cleanliness - Ability to regularly deep clean portions of the apartment, to identify what needs deep cleaning, and to do this without oversight and direction - Attention to detail so that every part of the residence is cleaned - Experience preparing food of mainland China - Good communication skills and the ability to convey issues to the wife as needed - Lifestyle consistent with solid home values and Christian teachings (there is no requirement to be Christian, only a respect for good principles) - Excellent manners - Neat habits and practices; eg keeping their own living space in order - Willingness to travel with the family to their Long Island home and perform the same job duties there - Previous employment in a live-in capacity preferred but not required - Mandarin fluency a bonus but not required Responsibilities - Keeping the residence to a high standard of cleanliness and order including occasional, regular deep cleaning of rotating areas - Organization of family residence including kitchen, pantries, closets, drawers - Laundry and light ironing for the family - Grocery shopping - Preparing the family dinner 5 evenings/week, and other meals as needed, in the traditional Chinese style - Regular and responsible communication with the wife M-F 11am-8pm $75K/year + room and board

Job Details: - Hours: Monday to Thursday & Saturday, 10 AM – 6 PM. - Pay: $20 per hour ($3,200 per month) through a home care program. - Full-time position (40 hours per week). POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (MAY VARY BASED ON SHIFT) Assist in the day-to-day operations of a shelter for residents. Process new client intake information and bed assignment. Maintain daily census records. Distribute clothing and personal care items to clients as needed. Distribute mail, appointment slips and other documentation to clients. Write detailed incident reports regarding client activity and the condition of the entire shelter. Document and maintain Shift Summaries and Logbooks. Conduct searches of client lockers. Conduct client pack-ups and property return. Manage CARES, the DHS client database. Participate in training and staff meetings. Utilize CPR/First Aid and/or Narcan techniques in emergency situations and conform to OSHA standards. Ability to climb stairs, walk throughout the facility, stand to talk to clients and staff, and sit for extended periods. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor. Enforce Fire Safety Plan. Assist residents with laundry services and manage linen exchange for shelter residents where needed. Ability to bend, or squat to frequently retrieve records from filing cabinets and lift up to 30lbs, unassisted. Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other staff in order to serve the needs of the client. Escort clients to appointments outside of the facility as needed. Grant and record client access to their medications. Availability and flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays. Provide the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) with daily census figures. Ability to create a warm, supportive environment; and work effectively with individuals in a community residence, and or mental/physical disabilities.
