We’re looking for a Sales Assistant, International Sales and Subsidiary Rights, to join our team! This entry-level role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both international sales and subsidiary rights across Abrams’ diverse and iconic publishing program. The ideal candidate is curious, resourceful, and eager to build a career in publishing. You’ll support two key areas: Subsidiary Rights, which manages foreign and domestic licensing, and International Sales, which partners with global reps and sales groups to bring Abrams’ titles to readers worldwide. This position is a union role represented by UAW Local 2110 and is subject to the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. What you’d be doing: Subsidiary Rights • Draft and track foreign submissions and materials for the Children’s publishing list, • Transmit production files, route licensed edition approvals, • Facilitate audiobook licensing, production, and sales, • Negotiate and execute non-rights licenses, • Enter and monitor rights deals in the IPM Sub Rights database, • Log and distribute licensed editions to Abrams’ editors, • Assist with international book fair preparations (book orders, rights guide, etc.) and post-fair follow-up, • Respond to Abrams’ website rights email inquiries, • Liaise with International, Export, and Canadian rep teams, providing seasonal sales materials and title information, • Generate weekly and monthly reports for international rep groups, • Maintain and update internal databases to track sales, • Prepare PowerPoint presentations for sales conferences and account meetings, • Support International marketing and publicity teams with materials as needed, • Provide project support to the Senior Director of International Sales We’re looking for someone who has: • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and comfort in learning new applications and proprietary in-house systems, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills, with a strong attention to detail and timely follow-up, • Dedicated to providing exceptional customer service to key stakeholders, • Candidate must have a strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects at once. They must be able to prioritize and manage time effectively while ensuring accuracy., • Thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, • A positive attitude, eagerness to contribute, and a love of books Highly preferred candidates also have: • 1 year of publishing experience, • Knowledge and interest in international publishing a plus This position is in New York, NY, and follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office presence three days per week. The base salary range for this position is $40,000 - $45,000 per year, depending on experience. The final offer will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications.
