Description * Operates radiologic equipment to make clinical diagnostic images as directed by physicians. Performs routine diagnostic procedures and may be required to function as a Medical Assistant as needed. Ensures exam rooms are neat, clean, and adequately stocked before exams are performed and acts to ensure compliance with Infection Control standards. Coordinates and prioritizes procedures during the workday to maintain a high level of patient care and continuity. Ensures all charges are correctly coded and entered in the billing system. Performs all duties in a manner that protects the confidentiality of patients and does not solicit or disclose any confidential information unless necessary in the performance of assigned job duties. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Excellent customer service skills required. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. Follows the CHRISTUS Physician Group guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI). Maintains established CHRISTUS Physician Group policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control. Adapt assigned patient assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each patient served. What You'll Do: As a member of our team you will have an impact on our clients through accomplishment of the following responsibilities: • Assist with the accurate implementation of the prescribed health care plan., • Make frequent resident rounds on a regular basis to check the physical comfort, safety, and cleanliness of residents., • Provide excellent, safe services in care and treatment including: bathing; feeding; oral care; intake of food; dressing; care of hair and nails; moving residents from area to area; responding to calls, etc., • Provide a broad range of cleaning/sanitary services, including: emptying and/or cleaning of urinals, commodes, bedpans; showers, wheelchairs and other equipment, timely and proficiently., • Accurately and timely document Activities for Daily Living (ADL's), intakes and outputs and other appropriate information on charts., • Wake residents, assist with morning grooming and move resident to dining room as needed., • Change soiled and unsoiled linen; distribute clean towels frequently throughout shift., • Ensure resident safety by immediately detecting, correcting and reporting situations that have a possibility of causing accidents or injuries., • Observe and immediately report resident reactions and changes in condition; take and record vital signs, as required., • Safely lift and reposition residents as necessary., • Pick up meal trays timely; distribute snacks daily., • Encourage and actively participate in restorative measures; assist in activities., • Professionally intervene in resident disputes or disruptive behavior, if necessary, to maintain proper facility harmony and resident safety., • Perform other tasks in support of your team including: staff nursing station and answer phones as needed; assist in dining room with meal serving and feeding as needed; and work schedules, assignments and units as requested., • Current Texas Nurse Aide Certification, • CPR/First Aid certified, • Current Food Handler Certificate, • Professional knowledge of basic health care practices and procedures including infection control, • Ability to instruct residents in health care measures and methods of improving use of medical services, • Working knowledge of use and monitoring of resident restraints as prescribed by physicians, • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job including bending, stooping, twisting, turning, reaching, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, climbing, kneeling, walking, and standing over 75% of shift, • Attention to detail is critical as an error could have life threatening consequences, • Ability to exercise patience, tact, initiative, judgment, and confidentiality (following established guidelines), • Ability to recognize changes in a resident's appearance, attitude, and condition, • 1 year prior experience as a nursing assistant or other equivalent training, • Medical and Dental benefits for employees and their eligible dependents;, • Life insurance;, • Short Term and Long Term Disability benefits;, • Paid Time Off and Holidays;, • Retirement Savings Plan; and, • The 5Star Fun Benefit: encourages employees to spread good cheer to their co-workers and others, creating a happy, healthy environment for all! Job Description Objective Phlebotomists are responsible for the drawing, collecting, and handling of all laboratory specimens. Phlebotomists perform a collection of specimens for the following age groups: Newborns, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Senior Adult and Geriatric. The phlebotomist is an OSHA Category I employee, performing tasks which involve exposure to blood and bodily fluids. Essential Functions • Work flexible hours, • Interact courteously and tactfully with the customer and actively seek his/her opinion, • Demonstrate good communication skills in instructing patients on special collections, • Follow HIPAA guidelines for confidentiality, • Complete assignments in a timely manner, • Maintain a professional attitude and personal appearance, • Follow all Universal Precautions guidelines, • Utilize all safety equipment (gloves, masks, etc.), • Be familiar with Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communications, and Laboratory Safety Manuals, • Review the Phlebotomy Manual annually, • Follow the procedure for specimen collection: Venipuncture, Capillary sticks (utilize heel-warmers), Urinalysis, Throat Cultures & Strep, Glucose Tolerances, and First Aid, • Know how to handle patients with adverse reactions to venipuncture, • Computer proficiency for data entry and data accuracy (Life Points), • Register patients and act as the receptionist, • Use two identifiers before collecting patient specimens, • Assure safety through appropriate specimen labeling, • Notify physicians of critical lab results, • Clean and organize the phlebotomy area, • Stock inventory upon delivery and break down boxes, • Perform additional duties as requested by supervisor Requirements • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, • Bi-Lingual (preferred), • 1-year experience required, • Completion of a Phlebotomy or Medical Office Assistant course preferred, • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, customer service-oriented position, • Physical abilities required include: Repetitive motion, standing, walking, lifting, visual acuity, speaking, writing, reading, kneeling, reaching, turning and bending.
