Learn more about the Mount Saint Mary College School of Nursing here: Position Overview The Dean of the School of Nursing provides leadership and counsel to the nursing faculty, students, and staff, and serves as the school’s primary advocate in the college, the community and beyond. The Dean’s leadership will be based on an understanding of the fundamental principles, mission, and values of the college and the School of Nursing, which are rooted in the Dominican tradition. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring trends in nursing education to strategically plan, develop, and implement the expansion of nursing programs, ensure adherence to accreditation standards, and establish community partnerships for ongoing collaborations, growth, and support of the School of Nursing. Responsibilities • Provide leadership, vision, and forward-directed inspiration for the School of Nursing and all of its programs in alignment the Mission of the Mount and the School of Nursing., • Act as a representative/liaison with all internal and external constituencies associated with the School of Nursing. Strengthen relationships with current healthcare partners, and develop relationships with new partners, to strengthen community ties and promote clinical excellence in nursing education., • Oversee community advisory board meetings to garner insights into industry needs and to ensure ongoing quality improvement of the School of Nursing curriculum., • Prepare annual reports to the NYS Education Department, CCNE, and internal School of Nursing reports., • Work closely with the nursing chairperson and graduate coordinator, in collaboration with the Vice President for Academic Affairs, in the hiring of nursing faculty and staff., • Encourage academic and professional growth of faculty through involvement in research, publication, and presentations at professional conferences. Oversee and mentor faculty through the annual evaluation and the promotion and tenure processes., • Oversee academic strategy and program delivery for BSN, RN-to-BSN, and MSN programs, including development of new programs and evaluation of program outcomes., • Work with program coordinators and faculty to implement and maintain rigor of programs necessary to achieve and maintain excellence in NCLEX and graduate program credentialing scores of program graduates., • Provide oversight of program outcomes and evaluations through continuous review of clinical needs, student survey data, retention and graduation rates, NCLEX scores, graduate competency exam rates, employment rates, etc., related to maintenance of professional accreditation., • Provide ongoing communication with and among faculty and staff through monthly School of Nursing faculty and staff meetings., • Prepare budget projections and manage budgets for all nursing programs., • In consultation with the Chairperson, assign faculty for representation at college events (e.g., Orientations, New Student Days, and Open Houses), as well as any other relevant functions that require representation by School of Nursing faculty on behalf of the college., • Earned doctorate in Nursing or a related field required., • An unencumbered NYS nursing license required., • 3+ years experience in nursing education; experience with advanced degree programs preferred., • Evidence of successful administrative experience and demonstrated leadership ability as Dean, Assistant/Associate Dean, or Chairperson in nursing baccalaureate and advanced degree programs., • Appropriate academic experience and scholarly work enabling possession of the rank of at least Associate Professor., • Significant involvement in professional activities (e.g., research, national/international presentation of scholarly work, professional committee membership in academic, community, and national organizations). JOB SUMMARY: This position works with nursing team to coordinate care for new patients. Monitors the ongoing home health nurse/patient relationship and patient progress. Directly involved in hiring, coaching, and counseling new field staff, provides orientation and educational training. The position will include establishing and maintaining positive relationships with patients, home health agencies and referral sources. Interacts with the intake department, clinical pharmacists, sales team, administrative departments, and outside agencies. Works with branch leadership to manage performance improvement program of the agency such as chart audits, formulation of Plan of Care (POT/485) and assessing staff’s clinical documentation technique, compliance with documentation guidelines and adherence to nursing standards. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Communicates effectively with a variety of people, both verbally and in writing., 2. Coordinates with intake department to obtain appropriate clinical information and coordinate nursing care for new infusion patients., 3. Assists with patient scheduling needs., 4. Serves as primary contact/liaison between KabaFusion branch, and various home health agencies., 5. Interacts with home health agencies and/or infusion agencies in providing authorizations for skilled nursing visits., 6. Develops cooperative relationships with nursing staff, home health agencies, referral sources, and KabaFusion accounting department., 7. Maintains knowledge of current state Home Health Regulations and other accrediting body standards; ensures compliance with both., 8. Ensures agency’s continuous compliance with the State Home Health Regulations and ACHC Standards in the operation of a home health agency., 9. Assists DON in creating an environment in which home health staff can work together, in which each has an opportunity for self-expression, for creating a sense of accomplishment and for personal growth., 10. Maintains adequate knowledge of documentation requirements in order to serve as resource for staff., 11. In collaboration with DON interviews and employs qualified personnel. Assures completion of staff evaluations. Performs disciplinary action as required., 12. Participates in providing orientation and clinical competency for new nursing staff, and field competency visits as needed., 13. Assist with patient home visits as needed and/or may carry a caseload., 14. Oversees day to day delivery of skilled nursing visits and agency operational functions., 15. Evaluates and intervenes in nursing-related patient care issues., 16. Assists DON in conducting staff meetings, in-services, and other meetings as assigned., 17. Works cooperatively with professional health members, conducts team conference and provides for continuity of care and coordination among disciplines and other departments., 18. Assures accurate, current medical records are maintained according to state and federal requirements, maintains patient confidentiality., 19. Acts as liaison between the physician, nurse, pharmacist and patient/family when problems arise., 20. Assists DON in maintaining personnel files according to policy and laws., 21. Manages communications to staff regarding changes in agency policies and procedures as directed., 22. Participates in quality management programs and performance improvement based on the Agency needs., 24. Provides case conferences and in-service education programs for all field staff., 25. Assesses daily staffing needs in coordination with team, works with team to adjust existing personnel and/or notifies personnel to report to ensure proper staffing within a timely manner. Reviews schedules for appropriate coverage., 26. Participates in coordination of on-call services during non-office hours as needed, performs “oncall” duties as needed or assigned., 27. Other related duties as assigned. BSN and/or Public Health Nurse Certificate preferred., • Current and unrestricted registered nurse licensed in the state of practice., • Active driver’s license and ability to provide current auto insurance, • Current BLS/CPR card, • Minimum of three years’ experience as a registered nurse in a home health agency, home infusion pharmacy or its equivalent., • Minimum of two years supervisory experience in a health care setting preferred., • Two years of supervisory experience in a health care setting required if mandated by state regulations.
