Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring a full-time Facilities Repair and Maintenance Technician to join our Store Development team! This is a great opportunity for an experienced individual to support over 40 Van Leeuwen locations. The ideal candidate is someone who is experienced in multi unit retail support, is organized, hands on and resourceful (and loves ice cream!). Our Facilities R+M Technician will report directly to the Director of Facilities. While we are based out of Brooklyn, NY, this role will cover the NY Metro area including New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. This is a full time, field based position requiring the flexibility to work off hours including weekends depending on operational needs and scheduled maintenance. Job Responsibilities • Respond to facilities maintenance and repair requests across approximately 40 retail locations throughout New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey, • Travel between multiple locations while working in active retail and food-service environments, • Pick up, transport, and deliver tools, materials, equipment, furniture, and replacement parts between locations when required, • Complete routine repairs, preventative maintenance, minor installations, troubleshooting throughout our scoop shops, • Examples of in house repairs include but are not limited to: drywall patching and painting, caulking, minor tile repairs, door and hardware adjustments, toilet and faucet repairs, minor drain cleaning, light fixture replacement, shelving installation, minor trim repairs, ceiling tile replacement, filter replacements, equipment leveling and securing, • Resolve maintenance issues quickly and efficiently, communicate solutions and timing with team members, • Coordinate with outside vendors as needed for larger repair and maintenance projects, • Put together cost estimates and track spending against approved budgets, • Document completed work, materials used, photographs, and outstanding issues through the company's work-order or facilities management system, • Maintain an organized inventory of commonly used tools, materials, hardware, and replacement parts, • Complete preventive maintenance inspections and identify potential problems before they result in equipment failure or disruption to store operations, • Ensure our stores remain safe, functional, clean, and presentable for the operations team and guests, • Support store openings, renovations, refreshes, and special projects as needed Job Requirements • 5+ year of experience in general repairs, facilities maintenance, construction, or a related trade required, • Experience supporting mulit-unit retail or food-service locations strongly preferred.Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, tile, hardware, and general building repairs, • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to determine practical, cost-effective repair solutions, • Ability to work independently and manage a daily schedule across multiple locations, • Strong organizational and time-management skills, • Professional communication skills when interacting with store employees, managers, vendors, landlords, and customers, • Familiarity with Service Channel, Company Cam, Gchat and Google Sheets a plus, • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required, • Willingness to travel regularly between locations throughout New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey, • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment, • Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds and perform physical work including bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working in tight spaces, • Must have flexibility to work off hours and/or weekends based on business and operational needs, • Must have own vehicle Compensation + Benefits $75,000 - 85,000 annual compensation depending on experience, paid weekly Eligible for annual 5% bonus • Employee Scoop Card (Enjoy Ice Cream from any of our scoop shops nationwide), • Medical, Dental + Vision Insurance with 70% Employer Contribution, • 401k with up to 4% Employer Match, • Cell Phone Reimbursement Plan, • Wellness Reimbursement Plan, • Flexible Time Off - No accrual required, • Paid Sick Time, • Paid one month sabbatical (eligible after 4 years of continued employment), • Yearly Performance Reviews, • Mileage and parking reimbursement Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is committed to pay transparency and equity among all employees and provides employees an environment where pay transparency and dialogue on compensation are allowed. DUTIES, TASKS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES Classroom Management • Prepare and maintain classrooms according to the Early Childhood Environmental Ratings Scale (ECERS) standard, • Maintain a clean and safe environment that encourages health and hygiene of students and staff, • Ensure the supervision of students and maintain sight lines at all times, • Establish classroom rules and guidelines that build on clear expectations of classroom behavior and promote order and effective routines for students, • Follow all COVID-19 protocols and guidelines recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the New York State Department of Health (DoH) Student Development • Maintain student logs i.e attendance roster, daily health inspection record, screening forms, incident reports, • Provide services to all students with respect and confidentiality in efforts to promote equity, diversity and an inclusive classroom, • Partner with the Education Director and the teaching staff on weekly/monthly instructional lesson plans that are both creative and engaging to students in accordance with the NYC Department of Education and HighScope Early Learning Curriculums AND that meet student developmental goals, • Work along with the Education Director and Teaching Assistant to host bi-annual student evaluation sessions with families that review student development and strengthens family partnership, • Implements appropriate behavior management strategies to achieve and maintain a functional learning classroom environment Family Engagement • Create and post monthly classroom newsletters keeping families regularly informed of, but not limited to, school requirements and upcoming events., • Plan, coordinate, and execute engaging classroom-level family events throughout the school year, including seasonal activities, multicultural gatherings, and end-of-year graduation/culminating celebrations that build community and honor student achievements., • Identify barriers to family engagement and provide resources for families as needed Administration • Prep your classrooms daily before the arrival of your students, • Participate in weekly and/or monthly staff meetings, • Attend professional development workshops and seminars as needed REQUIREMENTS • NY State Initial or Professional Teaching Certification (Early Childhood / Birth–Grade 2) or,, • A formally approved study plan, • State Central Registry (SCR) Child Abuse Clearance, PETS (Personnel Eligibility Tracking System) registration/clearance, up-to-date medical clearance / TB Test as mandated by NYC DOHMH Stillwell Avenue Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate in its employment decisions, in accordance with state and federal laws
