JOB SUMMARY Assistant Teachers share with the Head Teacher the task of maintaining and organizing materials and preparing for the week's lessons. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role, NYS initial or professional certification, and longevity within the KIPP network. KIPP NYC will evaluate a candidate’s years of experience, certification, and longevity at point of hire to determine the step/level a new hire will be placed within our teacher salary scale. We provide full day, year-round academic experiences and care for children ages 2-5 years old. Our curriculum is play based and marries together reading, writing, movement and music, with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning. JOB PURPOSE Substitute Teaching Assistants will assist the Early Childhood Education Teacher and Teacher Aide as they ensure the safety and well-being of the children while they are in the classroom, playground or in any area of the center. The Substitute will play an integral role in providing classroom coverage in the absence of teachers and supporting various classroom functions at all of our sites under the guidance of our Education staff.
