Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for keeping machinery and equipment used in an industrial environment operating effectively. This position is an essential part of the success of the business, and requires proactive thinking to evaluate equipment and diagnose and repair potential problems before critical failure. You will be required to use your acquired mechanical and electrical skills, as well as seeking information from others to find and implement the best possible solutions to keep machinery and equipment in top notch condition and running efficiently as possible. The Mechanic is expected to diagnose issues and deliver solutions. This position requires ability to think and reason, initiative to move forward to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal guidance, and conduct all business dealings in a professional manner at all times. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: § Inspect machines and equipment regularly for signs of potential malfunctions, including visual inspections, listening for irregular noises, and other preventative measures. § Daily communication with machine operators asking if they are experiencing and issues or irregularities with their equipment. § Recommend Preventative Measures and Activities for routine inspection that will help reduce the risk of equipment failure. § Perform emergency repairs safely and with a sense of urgency. § Utilizing your experience, be a Champion for Safety, bringing awareness and implementing improvements to keep all coworkers safe. Practice safe work habits by using proper and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, and reminding coworkers if necessary. § Prioritize work schedule by understanding the criticality and sense of urgency of the tasks at hand, and communicate with appropriate supervisors and managers to make sure the most urgent tasks are being performed first. § Always maintain a clean work area. Work urgently but safely and with care, following all GMP and Safety Guidelines. § Work in a Professional Manner with all coworkers and team members, treating everyone with respect and dignity at all times. § Utilize CMMS to manage Maintenance Work Orders, Inventory, and Equipment. Complete and generate Work Orders daily. Complete Parts Requisitions and Parts Removal Transactions for all Parts removed from stock. § Complete all Regulatory and Required Paperwork in a timely manner as required. § Complete all Reports and Recordkeeping Documents as requested. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to: § Work near moving mechanical parts. § Reach with hands and arms. Sit and/or stand for long periods of time (8 hours) § Utilize a Computer Monitor/Screen for long periods of time (8 hours) § Climb or balance utilizing ladders, aerial lift equipment. § Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. § Push and pull up to 100 pounds. Given the operation of various types of moving equipment used in the facility, adequate communication and observational skills are required, including seeing, speaking and hearing. WORK ENVIRONMENT Job will generally be performed in the manufacturing plant. When on the plant floor it is representative of a large, busy manufacturing operation. Noisy, active, objects on the floor, constant movement and traffic flow of motorized equipment. Hair net, beard net, assigned work uniform, protective eye wear and gloves are among the GMP required apparel that must be worn, if indicated, on the plant floor. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager Critical Operating Relationships: Maintenance Staff Operations Personnel QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Must have a High School Diploma or GED, Advanced technical or college training preferred. Experience: Strong Mechanical and Industrial Experience background. 3+ Years in an Industrial Mechanic position KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: § Experience with basic Industrial Electricity, able to trace and identify electrical sources and identify voltage. Experienced changing Motor, Contactors, Starters, Relays, and other electrical components frequently used in an industrial environment. § Knowledge and basic understanding of PLC’s, VFD’s, and Servo Motors. § Experience with Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems, including understanding of basic system components. § Basic Welding Skills § Basic Plumbing Skills § Must be able to read Technical Manuals and Mechanical and Electrical Drawings/Schematics. § Proficient in the use of hand and power tools commonly found in typical maintenance shops. § Experience of Safe Work Practices of an Industrial Mechanic. Familiarity of OSHA safety standards and regulations. § Must be able to use a Personal Computer and use Internet, Mail, and have basic MS Excel and Word skills. § Excellent written and verbal communication skills. § Excellent Organizational Skills. § Must be able to stand for 8 hours, able to lift heavy objects (50 lbs), use ladders and work from heights, work in tight and/or awkward spaces, work in extreme hot or cold conditions. § Must be able to conduct business in a professional manner with internal and external contacts. § Must have a valid Driver’s License. Please explain: ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE • Strong safety awareness and adherence to GMP, OSHA, and facility safety protocols., • Experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining tablet press machinery., • Experience with encapsulation machines, including setup, changeovers, and mechanical adjustments., • Knowledge of coating equipment and related process parameters., • Blender operation and maintenance experience, including V-blenders, ribbon blenders, or similar equipment. ADVANCED TECHNICAL DETAILS • Proficient in diagnosing tablet press issues such as weight variation, compression force imbalance, ejection problems, and punch/die wear., • Experience performing punch and die installation, alignment, lubrication schedules, and monitoring tooling life cycles., • Ability to troubleshoot encapsulation machines including vacuum systems, dosing disk alignment, rectifier timing, and capsule separation issues., • Familiarity with coating pan operation parameters including spray rate, exhaust flow, bed temperature, droplet size, and pattern uniformity., • Skilled in blender preventive maintenance including bearing replacement, agitator shaft alignment, gear reducer inspection, and load testing., • Understanding of dust collection systems, HEPA filtration units, and air handling requirements for tablet and capsule manufacturing., • Experience calibrating pressure gauges, torque settings, load cells, thermocouples, and other process sensors., • Ability to troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, interpret ladder logic, and perform minor programming edits when required., • Knowledge of lubrication methods (grease, oil, food-grade lubricants) and maintenance of lubrication distribution systems., • Experience in conducting root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring mechanical failures and implementing corrective actions. SPECIFIC EQUIPMENT QUALIFICATIONS • Tablet Press: Setup, turret removal/installation, punch lubrication, feeder adjustments, compression roller inspection, and resolving tablet defect issues such as capping or lamination., • Encapsulation Machines: Timing adjustments, vacuum troubleshooting, dosing system rebuilds, rectifier alignment, and resolving capsule body/cap separation issues., • Blenders: Preventive maintenance on V-blenders, double-cone, and ribbon blenders including seal replacement, gear reducer service, and verifying blender rotation timing., • Coating Equipment: Spray gun calibration, pump maintenance, exhaust airflow balancing, and troubleshooting coating defects such as roughness or poor adhesion. · Private Labeling of premium branded and private label products for various companies/retailers using 450 stock products and differentiating with over 50 Patented and Trademarked raw materials. · Contract Manufacturing of premium powders, tablets and capsules differentiating with over 50 patented and trademarked raw materials, specializing in probiotics and plant proteins.
