By the Way Bakery is a high-end specialty bakery offering exceptional gluten-free, dairy-free, and kosher pareve treats that taste as good as – if not better than – traditional baked goods. With four successful locations and partnerships with Whole Foods and other high-end retailers, we're looking for a passionate Sales Associate. We're specifically seeking candidates with retail team supervision. No restaurant experience required. As a Sales Associate, you’ll be an essential part of our team, working hands-on with customers and teammates to ensure smooth daily operations. You’ll help deliver the outstanding service and premium quality we’re known for, all while contributing to a positive and professional store environment. We're looking for enthusiastic and engaging Counter Associates to join our team at our Greenwich CT Location (19 E Putnam Ave). Key Responsibilities Customer Experience Excellence • Provide friendly, knowledgeable service that reflects our premium brand, • Support teammates in learning customer service best practices, • Answer customer questions with enthusiasm and product knowledge Daily Operations • Follow all opening and closing procedures with care, • Help maintain health, safety, and company standards, • Keep the store clean, organized, and visually appealing Team Collaboration • Work closely with your team to create a positive, supportive environment, • Take pride in your role and contribute to a strong team culture, • Set a positive example through great service and attention to detail Inventory & Merchandising • Assist with receiving and restocking products from our kitchen and distributors, • Ensure products are fresh, well-stocked, and properly rotated, • Help create attractive displays that showcase our quality and drive sales What We're Looking For Experience & Skills • Prior experience in retail or customer-facing roles, • Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment, • Strong communication and customer service skills, • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods, • A driver's license and a car are a plus Personal Qualities • Positive attitude and genuine care for customer satisfaction, • Team player who enjoys coaching and developing others, • Detail-oriented with high standards for cleanliness and quality, • Professional demeanor with pride in representing our brand Schedule & Commitment • Flexible position: 3- 5 shifts per week, including weekends, • This is not a seasonal position - we're seeking long-term team members (6+ months minimum) Training & Certifications • Food Allergens Course certification (completed within the first 30 days if not already obtained), • Comprehensive paid training provided on all procedures and products Availability to work weekends and holidays. Job Type: Part-time Salary: $17.00 per hour plus tips Shifts vary between morning (7 AM – 1 PM, sometimes earlier) and evening (1 PM – 7 PM). Sundays are required: 7 AM – 4 PM.     The Deli Counter Person is responsible for providing excellent customer service while preparing and serving deli items such as meats, cheeses, sandwiches, and ready-to-eat foods. This role includes assisting customers with orders, maintaining product quality, and ensuring the deli area remains clean, organized, and fully stocked. Key Responsibilities: Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner and assist them with deli orders. Slice meats and cheeses according to customer preferences using deli equipment. Prepare sandwiches, salads, and other deli items as requested. Weigh, package, and label products accurately. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the deli counter, equipment, and food preparation areas. Refill and organize display cases to ensure products are fresh and appealing. Follow all food safety and hygiene standards. Monitor product freshness and report low inventory to management. Operate the cash register or assist with transactions when needed. Qualifications: Previous experience in a deli, grocery store, restaurant, or food service environment preferred. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to operate deli slicers and other food preparation equipment safely. Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30–40 lbs. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays if required. Work Environment: Fast-paced deli or grocery store environment. Requires standing for extended periods and handling food products following safety guidelines.
