Job Summary: JVCHC works within the context of a patient centered medical home and from a team approach. The team includes the primary care provider and other JVCHC staff, as well as the patient and the patient’s family. Outside specialists and other community partners may also play a role in the team-based care. The goal of the team is to promote timely access to care, comprehension and continuity of care, as well as the enhancement of patient health. As such, your position will require you to collaborate within the team and perform duties in-line with this team-based healthcare delivery model. Key Responsibilities: • Supervise family medicine residents as they provide direct patient care (to include primary care of pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients and prenatal care) according to program needs., • Maintain own clinical skills by providing regular direct patient care without learners at the teaching site(s) in addition to the precepting/supervisory sessions., • Teach and train resident physicians and medical students (when applicable) in Family Medicine while providing high quality, evidence based, cost-effective, high-quality care for patients without sacrificing patient or learner safety., • Supervise outpatient procedures as appropriate., • Complete all clinical charting (including resident chart supervision/attestation/cosignatures) in a timely fashion, according to the open encounter policy., • Foster and encourage a life-long learning attitude that considers resident and faculty well-being. Responsible for developing, delivering, and providing an engaging learning curriculum and environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competency areas., • Demonstrate commitment to and strong interest in the education of the residents., • Be aware of resident work hour requirements, paying close attention to signs of Fatigue and other impairments in individuals and follow the protocol outlined in applicable clinic and/or residency policy when indicated., • Epitomize professionalism in teaching, clinical care, and leadership and serve as a role model for residents and staff in all facets of work., • Participate in regularly scheduled didactics (including, but not limited to: journal clubs, lectures, grand rounds, interdisciplinary conferences, M&M sessions, resident presentations, procedure and other workshops)., • Provide didactic lectures for the residency program as directed by the Program Director., • Coordinate and update written curriculum for assigned rotations, longitudinal curriculum, and relevant didactics as assigned by the Program Director., • Utilize and contribute to the ACGME competency-based curriculum for residents through didactic and clinical education., • Serve as a mentor and advisor for the residents and medical students, coaching them regarding their career and educational goals., • Serve on committees at the hospital or clinic to enhance medical education, patient care, or quality improvement at those facilities and serve as a liaison between the residency and the teaching facility as appropriate., • Participate in developing individualized learning plans for residents., • Evaluate Family Medicine residents using competency based/milestone evaluations and via direct observation and other relevant evaluation methods in accordance with ACGME requirements. Provide appropriate and timely feedback on patient care, documentation and billing to the residents., • Provide feedback on resident performance to the Program Director., • Complete written evaluations of residents when requested., • Participate and lead in scholarly activity driven by interest and as directed by the program director to fulfill the requirements laid out in the ACGME Family Medicine Program Requirements., • Participate and lead quality improvement activities, while incorporating and/or supervising residents, driven by interest and as directed by the program director to fulfill the ACGME Program Requirements., • Participate in faculty development activities, faculty meetings, and GMEC meetings as directed by the Program Director., • Participate in the interviewing and recruitment process for the residency as directed by the Program Director., • Maintain current licenses and board certifications as required., • Report to the program director., • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director to support the success of the Family Residency Program.
