Position Overview The Lower School Art Specialist partners in the school's mission to nurture the hearts, minds, and creative gifts of children in a Christ-centered learning environment. This educator provides developmentally appropriate, engaging visual arts instruction that cultivates creativity, skill, imagination, and artistic expression while integrating biblical truth, Christian character, and a biblical worldview. Through art education, students are encouraged to see themselves as image-bearers of God, called to create, reflect beauty, and glorify Him through their gifts. Responsibilities • Design and implement a comprehensive, age-appropriate visual arts curriculum grounded in excellence and creativity, • Teach foundational artistic skills including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and design, • Integrate biblical worldview concepts such as beauty, stewardship, creativity, purpose, and service into art instruction, • Introduce students to art history and global cultures through a Christ-centered lens, • Support interdisciplinary learning with classroom teachers and specialists, • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students Spiritual Formation • Model Christlike character in interactions with students, families, and colleagues, • Encourage students to see creativity as a gift from God and art as a form of worship and expression, • Foster gratitude, humility, service, and respect within the classroom community, • Support the spiritual mission and values of the school in daily practice, • Christ-centered servant heart and passionate about Christian education, • Warm, nurturing, and joyful presence with spiritual maturity Student Development • Nurture each child's confidence, imagination, and creative voice, • Support fine motor development and artistic technique, • Encourage perseverance, growth mindset, and joyful learning, • Celebrate student work through exhibitions, chapel displays, and school showcases Collaboration & Community • Partner with teachers and administrators to support mission-aligned learning, • Participate in chapel services, school events, and community activities, • Communicate effectively and graciously with families, • Contribute positively to a Christ-centered faculty culture, • Organize and participate in the coordination of student art displays, school-wide events Program Support • Manage art budget and steward art supplies and resources responsibly, • Maintain clean, safe, and organized classroom spaces, • Assist with and lead art shows, school programs, worship services, and special events, • Support school-wide creative and visual culture initiatives Education and Experience • Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Education, or related field, • Experience working with young children in an educational setting, • Understanding of child development and age-appropriate instruction, • Strong classroom management skills, • Creative, flexible, and collaborative, • Organized, dependable, and reflective, • Current Georgia teaching certificate, • Preferred: Experience in Christian education and faith-based curriculum development and integrated arts or interdisciplinary learning, • Personal commitment to Christian faith and alignment with the school's statement of faith Pre-employment Requirements • Successful background check, reference checking, and drug/alcohol screening clearance, • Acknowledgment of agreement with GAC's Statement of Faith and Community Covenant Perks and Benefits • GAC offers competitive salary and benefits including an all-inclusive dining program, onsite fitness center, professional development, healthcare benefits, student loan debt repayment assistance, retirement plan, and a Christian community of innovative, engaged individuals, • Greater Atlanta Christian School is an equal opportunity employer.
