Responsibilities • Greet patients and explain procedures to patients in a compassionate manner, • Position patients appropriately for diagnostic imaging procedures, • Practice ALARA radiation protection techniques, • Process images, review for proper identification and quality control and prepare images for reading by a physician as well as radiologist overreads, • Utilize both digital and non-digital diagnostic imaging equipment, ensuring compliance with approved radiology techniques and all policies and procedures, • Aid provider with prescribed patient treatments in accordance with approved standards, policies, procedures, and protocol as necessary., • Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on equipment, arranging for repairs as needed, • Complete forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed, • Serve as Medical Receptionist and/or Medical Assistant if/when needed within appropriate guidelines

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The new radiologist will work in a collaborative, dynamic environment with an integrated, multi-disciplinary care team that includes nine (9) other radiologists. Physicians are supported by highly-trained clinical assistants and management in comfortable, modern settings. This includes scribes and staff to perform clinical administrative tasks. The breast care team includes: • radiologists, • nurses, • nurse navigators, • breast surgeons The practice includes a multi-disciplinary cancer program and weekly tumor boards, and sonically-guided biopsies are performed. The radiologist will oversee both screening and diagnostic cases, alongside skilled breast surgeons. The office uses the AthenaHealth EHR. While the ability to read body imaging and general radiology is a plus and can provide additional compensated work, it is not required. Job Description \n Operates Computed Tomography (CT) equipment, prepares patients for examination, and captures appropriate imaging and information for Physician review and diagnosis. \n Job Responsibility \n 1.Prepares patient for examination. \n Explains procedure in layman terms to relieve any potential anxiety. \n Performs thorough screening of patients prior to procedure. \n Ensures required consent forms have been obtained. \n Positions patient on exam table within gantry. Utilizes special devices (i.e. bromide shield) to reduce exposure to ionizing radiation of radiosensitive areas (i.e. breast, thyroid, etc.). \n 2.Sets up equipment to administer proper procedure in a timely fashion. \n Calculates number of scans to be obtained, ensuring required images are obtained according to Radiologist order. \n Adjusts CT equipment to capture appropriate field of view. Ensures proper slice thickness and couch increment. In collaboration with Radiologist, extends parameters within established imaging protocols, if needed. \n 3.Administers intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents according to Radiologist order. \n Explains the administration of IV contrast to patient. \n Confirms there are no contraindications to administration of IV contrast agent. \n Completes IV Contrast Information Sheet with information provided by patient, family member or health care proxy. \n Calculates contrast dose based on patient’s weight. \n Performs venipuncture of appropriate gauge necessary for examination. \n Utilizes appropriate flush technique for existing IV line, if needed, and utilizes power injector to administer IV contrast. \n Recognizes and assists in treatment of contrast agent reactions and IV extravasations. \n 4.Performs CT procedures (abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, extremities, sub-periosteal implant planning, radiation therapy treatment planning, biopsies, etc.). \n 5.Transmits cases to Radiologist through teleradiology system. \n 6.Performs related duties as required. All responsibilities noted here are considered essential functions of the job under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
