In 2026, DSF Advisors acquired Zelitsky & Company, significantly expanding its existing tax practice and service capabilities. Zelitsky & Company is a Bergen County-based CPA firm specializing in tax, accounting, bookkeeping, business consulting, and tax planning services. The firm has built a strong reputation for providing personalized financial guidance and tax preparation services to medical groups, real estate businesses, and professional service firms. The acquisition strengthens DSF’s ability to deliver comprehensive tax and advisory solutions to a broader client base while enhancing its presence in the New York metropolitan market. Role Description We are seeking an entrepreneurial experienced and detail-oriented Tax Manager to oversee the Firm’s tax planning, compliance, reporting, and accounting support functions. Additionally, manage tax preparation processes. This role will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations while identifying opportunities to improve tax efficiency and reduce risk. The Tax Manager will research and interpret tax law, identify planning opportunities, and provide proactive tax advisory support tailored to closely held businesses, investment entities, and high-net-worth clients. Responsibilities include providing strategic tax planning advice to clients, preparing and reviewing tax returns, staying updated on relevant tax legislation and compliance standards, and collaborating with clients to develop effective tax strategies. The ideal candidate has strong technical tax knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and experience working in a fast-paced small to mid-size business environment. The role also supports internal process improvement, assists with tax technology and workflow enhancements, and helps ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient tax operations. Key Responsibilities • Manage, review, sign and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S, and 1120 trust and non profit tax returns, • Ensure timely and accurate quarterly and annual tax provisions, • Review and analyze K-1 allocations, capital accounts, basis, maintain partners and inside and out tax basis, including S Corp shareholder, • Serve as the primary point of contact for client tax matters, providing proactive guidance, timely communication, and responsive support regarding compliance, planning, and regulatory issues, • Monitor changes in tax laws and assess impact on the business, • Lead tax planning initiatives to minimize tax exposure and improve efficiencies, • Review financial records and reconcile tax accounts, • Support audits and respond to tax notices or inquiries from regulatory agencies, • Develop and maintain internal tax controls and documentation processes, • Partner with accounting and finance teams on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives, • Assist with entity structure, nexus reviews, and multi-state tax matters as applicable, • Maintain compliance with CPA professional standards and firm policies, circular 230, • Mentor and support accounting staff involved in tax-related activities Qualifications • Active CPA or Enrolled Agent License (required), • Ability and willingness to sign tax returns, • 7+ years of progressive tax experience in mid-sized public accounting firm reviewing complex tax returns, • Hands-on experience with Tax Preparation across federal, state, and local jurisdictions, including complex individual, partnership, and corporate returns, • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving, project management skills and strong attention to details, communication and client-service skills, • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize tasks, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced setting, • Strong communication and client service skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters in clear, practical terms, • Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills Preferred Experience • Prior experience in a small or mid-sized CPA firm, • Fluency in Spanish a Plus, • Proficiency with tax software such as UltraTax, Lacerte, ProSeries, or ProSystem FX Work Environment • Hybrid or in-office flexibility depending on company needs, • Collaborative and growth-oriented culture, • Opportunity to influence financial strategy and operational improvements Compensation & Benefits • Competitive salary based on experience, • Base Competitive salary: $100,000 – $200,000, • Annual bonus opportunity, • Health, dental, and vision insurance, • 401(k) with company match, • Paid time off and holidays, • High level of professional autonomy, • Opportunity for leadership growth and long-term career development,, • Professional development and CPA support The pay rare is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay for the role.
