Job Description Summary • Responsible for safe, reliable operation, monitoring, preventive and corrective maintenance, and outage support for a three Jenbacher 420 natural gas engine-generator set facility. Works under the Facility Manager and coordinates operations, maintenance, contractors, and vendors to supply energy and services to the Hard Rock Casino Tejon while maintaining compliance with safety rules, operational permits, environmental regulations, and company procedures. Essential duties and responsibilities • Operate and monitor plant systems locally and remotely; start/stop/adjust engines and auxiliary systems per manuals and procedures., • Assists in developing facility operating procedures. Uses said facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals to start, stop, adjust or modify equipment operations/maintenance to ensure all equipment is operated within the recommended operating range., • Read meters/gauges and recording devices at specified intervals, record operating data, analyze trends and report unusual readings or conditions to facility manager., • Perform visual and audible inspections to detect faults; troubleshoot engine/generator and balance of plant (BOP) issues and determine corrective actions., • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on Jenbacher 420 engines/generator and associated systems including: * • Oil and filter changes, spark plug inspection/regapping, valve adjustments, top end decokings, and routine maintenance., • Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, replacing valve packings, gaskets, valves, and gauges. Cleaning, replacing, oiling and lubricating other component parts and equipment as required., • Assist under direction, major top and bottom overhauls, engine/generator alignments, emission-monitoring equipment maintenance and repairs., • Emergency generator maintenance and outage planning/scheduling. • Fully supports and utilizes the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) by displaying proficiency in using the system and dedication to the facility maintenance philosophy., • Performs preventative or corrective maintenance and identifying equipment in need of corrective maintenance. Writes and submits corrective work orders for approval., • Initiates and performs Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) work orders in addition to performing cleaning, adjustments, tightening and basic repairs and escalation of complex repairs to facility manager and/or contractors., • Reads blueprints and uses facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals to maintain and repair facility equipment and ensure equipment is operated within operating range. Fully supports the use of a computerized Maintenance Management System by displaying proficiency in using the system and dedication to the facility maintenance philosophy., • Implement and follow engine maintenance programs to optimize performance, reliability and compliance; manage spare parts inventory and recommend parts procurement., • Supervise and coordinate contractor personnel during maintenance outages; provide direction to support teams as required., • Attend/complete training, coaching and documentation as required; serve as a system expert for assigned systems/facilities., • Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and facility regulatory procedures; participate as part of the team and support shift coverage. Qualifications and experience • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or trade certification preferred., • Minimum 5–8 years combined experience in operation and maintenance of large natural gas reciprocating engines (preferably Jenbacher series) and generator sets. Experience in other power production facilities and equipment may be considered., • Demonstrated knowledge of engine overhauls, valve adjustments, alignments, emissions monitoring, troubleshooting, and outage planning., • Experience with engine control systems, SCADA/remote monitoring, and basic electrical/mechanical diagnostics., • Proven ability to read technical manuals, schematics, meters and data logs, and to analyze operational trends. Skills and competencies • Strong verbal and written communication; ability to prepare reports and instruct others., • Ability to work independently and make competent decisions in emergency situations; good organizational and supervisory skills when directing others., • Familiarity with regulatory and environmental compliance for emission sources and permitted monitoring equipment., • Competency with computerized maintenance management systems (preferably EMaint), electronic rounds/logs..., • Computer literate with MS Office programs such as: * • Outlook, • Word, • Excel, • PowerPoint, • Teams Certifications and safety • Required: OSHA 10/30 or equivalent safety training, confined space, lockout/tagout, and any site-specific safety certifications., • Preferred: Manufacturer-specific Jenbacher training/certification, emission compliance training, first aid/CPR. Physical requirements and work conditions • Ability to perform reaching, climbing, lifting (up to 50 pounds or per site policy), walking, stooping, and work on rotating shifts including emergency call outs., • Work in indoor/outdoor powerhouse and generator areas; exposure to noise, heat, and typical industrial conditions. Supervision and reporting • Reports to facility manager. May provide direction to other operations/maintenance staff and coordinate contractors during outages., • Work with customer to ensure meeting contract requirements and customer needs. Performance expectations • Maintain reliable operation of all three Jenbacher 420 engines, minimize downtime, ensure emission and permit compliance, and support continuous improvement of maintenance practices and plant safety.
