Job Description Job Title: Welder Job Description This position offers the opportunity to work as a Structural Steel Welder in a high-volume fabrication environment, welding and assembling steel components for commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. You will use a variety of welding processes and measuring tools to produce precise, structurally sound products while following strict safety and quality standards. Responsibilities • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to understand project specifications and requirements., • Weld structural steel components using MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques to produce high-quality, structurally sound welds., • Perform layout, fitting, and fabrication of steel assemblies according to drawings and specifications., • Operate cutting, grinding, and welding equipment safely and efficiently to complete fabrication tasks., • Inspect welds for accuracy, strength, and compliance with applicable industry and project standards., • Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and other team members to ensure quality and timely completion of projects., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with safety protocols and company policies., • Conduct routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on welding equipment and tools to ensure proper operation. Essential Skills • Proficiency in structural steel welding using MIG, TIG, and Stick processes., • Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols accurately., • Hands-on experience with structural steel fabrication, including layout and fitting., • Skilled in the use of measuring tools to ensure precise dimensions and alignment., • Ability to operate cutting, grinding, and welding equipment safely and efficiently., • Strong attention to detail with a focus on weld quality and structural integrity., • Solid understanding of welding safety practices and adherence to safety protocols. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working in a structural steel fabrication shop environment., • Familiarity with industry standards related to structural steel welding and fabrication., • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, fabricators, and other team members., • Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and efficient work area., • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr.
