Job Description APPLY DIRECTLY HERE: The Associate Specialist, Laboratory Operations – Device Development & Technology (DD&T) plays a vital role in ensuring that innovative R&D concepts at Merck Research Laboratories (MRL) successfully transition into reality for patients. Based at the Rahway, New Jersey site, this position provides essential project management and operational support within the Pharmaceutical Sciences & Global Clinical Supply (PSCS) organization. Working under the guidance of a Senior Specialist, you will manage the administrative and technical backbone of the lab, ensuring that equipment, procurement, and safety standards are maintained at the highest level to support the development of life-changing medical devices and combination products. Responsibilities • Coordinate and perform general laboratory administrative duties, including the scheduling of testing, calibration, and routine equipment maintenance., • Maintain development and GXP laboratory instrumentation in strict accordance with internal standards and industry best practices., • Manage laboratory procurement needs by processing purchase orders, tracking expenses, and handling invoice payments., • Support the team with the domestic and international shipping of specialized equipment and drug/combination product samples., • Oversee facilities management and the ordering of both routine and specialty laboratory supplies to ensure uninterrupted workflows., • Coordinate technical and safety training for lab personnel, including the management of the documentation lifecycle., • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to arrange and coordinate evaluations for new vendor technologies., • Interact professionally with colleagues both on-site and remotely to maintain seamless laboratory operations., • Execute work activities with extraordinary attention to detail and independent judgment while requiring minimal supervision., • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; experience in Metrology is preferred., • Advanced computer skills in MS Outlook, Teams, Project, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe., • Highly preferred experience in device and combination product characterization and mechanical testing., • Experience in GXP-Analytical laboratory testing or management is a significant advantage., • Location: 100% Onsite Role at the Rahway, New Jersey facility., • Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM EST., • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift/box up to 45 lbs unassisted, move pallets using a pallet jack, and walk 5–10 miles daily., • Logistics: Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a golf cart for on-site transportation.Company DescriptionMerck Sharp & Dohme Corp.
