Job Description Overnight Dementia Caregiver | Bedside Sitter & Companionship | 92128 Location: San Diego, CA 92128 – Rancho Bernardo Pay: $18–$19 per hour Job Type: Part-Time / Overnight Schedule: Overnight shifts – Hours to be discussed DESCRIPTION Looking for a rewarding overnight caregiving position with a calm environment and meaningful one-on-one care? Cornerstone Caregiving is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and patient Overnight Dementia Caregiver / Bedside Sitter to provide companionship, reassurance, and safety supervision for a female senior living with dementia in the San Diego 92128 area. This position is primarily a bedside sitter and overnight companionship role. The caregiver's main responsibility is to remain available and attentive throughout the night, ensuring the client feels safe, comfortable, and supported while resting. Our client enjoys getting her nails done, applying makeup, dressing up, painting, and participating in fun activities during her waking hours. We are looking for someone with a warm personality who can connect with her interests while also respecting her nighttime routine. This is an excellent opportunity for a caregiver who enjoys a quieter overnight assignment while still making a meaningful difference in someone's life. Responsibilities • Provide one-on-one overnight bedside companionship and safety supervision, • Remain nearby and attentive while the client sleeps or rests, • Maintain a peaceful, quiet, and comfortable nighttime environment, • Offer gentle reassurance and redirection if the client wakes up confused or disoriented, • Assist with bathroom visits, toileting, and incontinence care as needed, • Provide standby assistance with walking and transfers to help prevent falls, • Monitor for nighttime restlessness, wandering, or changes in behavior, • Help the client settle back into bed comfortably if she wakes during the night, • Assist with simple bedtime or morning routines when needed, • Engage in light conversation or calming activities if the client is awake, • Encourage enjoyable activities such as nail care, makeup, painting, and choosing outfits during appropriate waking hours, • Respect the client's independence, personal preferences, and dignity, • Document care provided and communicate any concerns or changes in condition to the office Dementia or Alzheimer's care experience is highly preferred. Qualifications • At least 1 year of caregiving experience preferred, • Dementia, Alzheimer's, or memory care experience preferred, • Previous overnight caregiving or bedside sitter experience is a plus, • Comfortable providing standby assistance, toileting support, and personal care as needed, • Understanding of fall prevention and dementia-related behaviors, • Ability to remain attentive and respond promptly to client needs throughout the shift, • Compassionate, patient, and dependable, • Strong communication and observation skills, • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, • Ability to pass a background check, • California HCA registration or willingness to obtain upon hire, • Required TB clearance Why Join Cornerstone? • Primarily bedside sitting and overnight companionship, • Quieter overnight routine compared with more active daytime assignments, • Meaningful one-on-one senior care, • Paid orientation and training, • Supportive and responsive office team, • Opportunities for additional client shifts, • Rewarding work helping seniors feel safe and comfortable at home Apply Today!
