Job Description Position Summary: Acts as Football Coach for 9th - 12th grade football team. Provides activity supervision, training and coaching to student athletes as assigned. Actively works to ensure the fulfillment of team, department and school goals within their sport. Position Objective: Primary goal is to teach and promote the glorification of God through the pursuit of excellence in athletics. Additionally, charged to use leadership, supervisory and teaching skills to promote the development of the individual program and all student-athletes. Spiritual Requirements: Coram Deo Academy hires individuals that profess the historic Christian faith. The Nicene Creed describes the minimum understanding of and subscription to Christian belief required of employees of the Academy. Essential Job Functions: Football Coach: • Ensure implementation and maintenance of standards and procedures as outlined in the CDA Coaching Manual and Athletic Culture Guide, • Procure game officials, facilities, AV equipment, and necessary seasonal equipment, • Provide professional development to reporting coaches that will foster moral values, strong work ethic, responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, leadership, and self-confidence, • Maintain discipline and work to increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program and school community, • Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success, • Provide instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, strong work ethic, responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, leadership, and self-confidence, • Maintain discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program and school community, • Supervise practices, games, and team trips, • Update knowledge of technical aspects of the assigned sport and willingness to continue to learn and examine new ideas pertinent to the assigned sport or coaching in general, • Schedule all home and away games, tournaments, and overarching practice time slots, • Demonstrate commitment to personal professional development regarding technical aspects of the assigned sport, • Ensure the maintenance of uniform/equipment inventories, • Collaborate with Campus Athletic Director and pertinent faculty/staff to accomplish assigned tasks, • Encourage and support athletic policies with parents and players to address issues or concerns, • Update Campus Athletic Director frequently during season about any issues, concerns, or highlightsQualifications:, • Ability to organize and supervise a sports program/team, • Preferred previous coaching experience in assigned sport, • Good role model, • Excellent verbal communications skills, • Demonstrated leadership and facilitative skills, • Resonate with Coram Deo Academy’s mission, vision, core values and goals, • Works in a highly challenging environment dealing with a wide variety of deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts., • Works in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold., • Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/ or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials weighing 20 to 50 pounds.
