The Assistant Controller will manage, supervise, and provide oversight for the accounting and reporting functions of the University and assist the Controller in the day-to-day operation of the Business Office. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Accounting & Financial Reporting functions:, • Manage execution of the monthly close checklist, • Track and review reconciliations, • Review journal entries and accounting schedules, • Maintain audit documentation and schedules, • Ensure subsidiary systems reconcile to the general ledger, • Assist auditors in the preparation of the annual 990 tax return, 1098-T, and 1099 Forms., • Assist with the annual audit and preparation of the year-end financial statements., • Develop system-generated financial reports., • Ensure that GAAP requirements are implemented and enforced., • Prepare financial information for annual reports to IPEDS, NCAA, EADA, and various departmental accreditation filings including Middle States., • Assist the COFO and AVP/Controller in the annual budget preparation and provide department heads with monthly budget vs. actual analysis, • General Ledger functions:, • Co-lead with the AVP/Controller to review the integration of subsidiary systems to Great Plains, • Maintain chart of accounts; adding and deleting accounts as appropriate while maintaining reporting integrity along functional category lines., • Open and close fiscal and reporting periods ensuring entries are booked within the proper periods., • Prepare and/or supervise Perkins Loans reconciliations., • Supervision:, • Supervise and support the work of the Senior Accountant, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with financial policies and procedures., • All other duties as assigned Salary Range: $95,000 - $105,000 Qualifications: Experience: Minimum of five to eight years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including at least two years in a supervisory role Education: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in accounting. A bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business Administration/Management with relevant work experience will also be considered. CPA is desirable, but not required Must have higher education or non-profit experience Must have advanced experience in Great Plains Accounting Software Skills: High analytical skills, ability to multitask, prioritize, organize, and communicate effectively.
