Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Family Navigation will lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Akin’s Family Resource Centers (FRCs) while providing strategic leadership and oversight for all family navigation services across the Programs Division. This role ensures that standards for family navigation are consistent, high-quality, and equitable across all program types and locations. The Director will work closely with program leadership, regional teams, and external partners to build a strong, coordinated family navigation system that connects families to resources, supports, and opportunities to thrive. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Family Resource Center (FRC) Design & Leadership • Lead the strategic design and implementation of Akin’s FRC model, aligning with state and national best practices, • Develop and maintain operational standards, workflows, and service protocols for all FRC sites, • Develop and implement organization-wide family navigation standards, ensuring service consistency across all program types and regions, • Partner with program directors to integrate family navigation services into early learning, clinical, and family support programs, • Build partnerships with local agencies, schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations to strengthen referral networks and access points for families, • Collaborate with regional Community Engagement leaders to align outreach strategies with family navigation priorities, • Partner with the Data & Impact team to develop tools for tracking family navigation outcomes and FRC performance, • Use data to identify gaps in services, inform resource allocation, and drive continuous improvement efforts, • Manage budgets for Family Navigation and FRC operations, ensuring compliance with funder and regulatory requirements, • Support sustainability efforts by identifying funding opportunities and collaborating on proposals for FRC expansion, • Supervise FRC site managers and other family navigation leaders across the Programs Division, • Provide coaching, professional development, and leadership support to build a strong, skilled, and mission-driven team, • Foster a culture of collaboration, cultural humility, and continuous learning across family navigation services KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Good judgment, integrity, and confidentiality, • Ability to execute independent judgement, • Ability to prioritize multiple job assignments, • Excellent client management and business literacy skills, • Strong conflict management and resolution skills, • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, • Develop strong trusting relationships to gain support and achieve, • Effectively envision, develop, and implement new strategies to address competitive, complex business issues, • Be flexible and available to interact with employees at all levels, • Be self-directed and motivated, • Take initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation, • Demonstrated ability to lead or support teams with diverse identities and backgrounds, including implementing inclusive practices across recruitment, supervision, and service delivery., • Working knowledge of the principles of accessibility, inclusion, and belonging, and a track record of incorporating these values into decision-making and team development. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: This job is performed in a professional office environment or remotely in a home office. Some positions require daily presence in the office. Hybrid work arrangements may be adjusted or rescinded based upon business needs. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard; occasionally to reach, stoop and kneel • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, education, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred, • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in family support, social services, or program leadership roles, with at least 3 years supervising staff, • Experience with Family Resource Centers, family navigation services, or similar community-based models strongly preferred, • Proven success in developing and implementing standardized service delivery models across multiple programs or sites, • Strong skills in partnership development, community outreach, and cross-sector collaboration, • Familiarity with data-driven decision-making, program evaluation, and quality improvement processes, • Demonstrated ability to lead or support teams with diverse identities and backgrounds, including implementing inclusive practices across recruitment, supervision, and service delivery, • Working knowledge of the principles of accessibility, inclusion, and belonging, and a track record of incorporating these values into decision-making and team development SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS: We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive pay, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The target starting pay for this position is $110,718-$138,403, typically within the first half of the range. Actual offers will be based on individual qualifications relevant to the role and will not take an applicant’s pay history into account. The range above allows our employees room for growth during their tenure in the position.
