This position combines inspection, metrology, and engineering analysis to ensure products meet specifications while continuously improving manufacturing processes. The role begins with strong involvement in inspection and measurement systems while developing engineering capabilities in statistical analysis, root cause problem solving, and process validation. Over time, the engineer will grow into advanced metrology programming and quality engineering leadership responsibilities. This position is ideal for a motivated early-career engineer who is passionate about manufacturing, highly detail-oriented, and eager to learn measurement technology, data analysis, and structured problem solving. Competencies – What This Person Must Be Hands-On Inspector & Measurement Specialist - Develop strong capability in dimensional inspection using calipers, micrometers, optical systems, and coordinate measuring equipment. Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T to verify product conformance. Developing Metrology Programmer - Learn and progressively support programming and operation of advanced measurement systems including CMM, optical vision systems, and automated inspection equipment. Calibration & Measurement System Steward - Support the management of the calibration system to ensure all gages, instruments, and fixtures remain accurate, traceable, and compliant with AS9100 and customer requirements. Data-Driven Problem Solver - Use structured methods such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa analysis to investigate defects and identify sustainable corrective actions. Process Control Advocate - Support statistical process control, capability analysis, PFMEA, control plans, and Gage R&R studies to strengthen measurement reliability and process stability. Metrics-Driven: Uses data analysis to monitor trends, reduce scrap, and eliminate recurrence of quality issues. Standards-Focused - Apply AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer quality requirements in daily operations, documentation, and investigations.
