Job Description Job Summary: To provide safe, reliable and cost-efficient vehicles by performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs as well as performing expert diagnosis and repair as required to prevent breakdowns on road, reduce vehicle downtime and improve total fleet reliability. Accountabilities: • Must be able to interpret work instructions, formulate plans, and express ideas and concerns effectively to co-workers, maintenance personnel and supervisors, • Log all actions taken in a clear and concise method, • Installing, maintaining, testing, evaluating, and repairing various mechanical components and systems, • Operating standard maintenance tools such as power tools, electric tools, precision maintenance tools, preventative maintenance technology tools, etc., • Utilize maintenance trades and components such as welding, pipefitting, fabrication, gearbox and bearing maintenance, lubrication, pumps and piping systems, mechanical maintenance, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, • Interpreting and understanding mechanical schematics, blueprints, and/or operation manuals, • Documenting completed work and the conditions found, utilizing maintenance computer software as necessary, • Understanding and adhering to all safety rules and regulations, • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment, • Other duties as assigned, • Perform quality preventive maintenance inspections per company methods on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, refrigeration units (Reefer), lift-gates, light-duty vehicles, and any other company-owned equipment., • Perform quality maintenance repairs as required to maximize safety and reliability on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, lift-gates, light-duty vehicles, and any company-owned equipment., • Provide Annual Inspections Minimum Qualifications: • High School Diploma or GED, • Eligible to work in the United States, • Must have a current and valid drivers license (CDL preferred, not required), • Must be able to pass routine drug test, • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written), • Must have basic computer skills to access: Timesheets, daily protocols, diagnostic systems, etc., • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 55lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without a reasonable accommodation, • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above), • Ability to work in confined spaces, • Knowledge of controls and electric (DC (distribution center) low voltage, • Electric motor knowledge (DC), • Complete electrical repairs and welding projects as needed, • Moderate knowledge and skill in welding and cutting (gas, electric, MIG, TIG), • Expert knowledge of all DOT (FMCSA) regulations, • Moderate knowledge of OSHA safety regulations, • Moderate knowledge of environmental regulations, • The technician must provide own and provide all tools (diagnostic equipment and major tools provided by I&T Diesel Repair) necessary to perform all maintenance repair and diagnostics, • The employee in Repair work requires excellent hand and finger dexterity used for wrenches, hand tools, and other shop equipment., • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus., • Ability to operate various pieces of equipment Preferred Qualifications: • 3 or more years of experience of fleet maintenance and repair, • CDL, • Medium / Heavy Duty truck technical training Certifications, Licenses and Registrations • Annual Inspector Certification Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, • Brake Inspector Certification Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, • ASE certifications & Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks
