Job DescriptionCompany Description The company will work collaboratively with fellow co-workers to care for the cattle throughout the feedlot in order to ensure an organized, effective, efficient and safe environment. The Cattle Technician is responsible for the care of the cattle by following protocols, providing innovative ideas for improvements, and foster the culture of “best of the class” cattle care. Job Description • Job Type: Full Time, • Starting Salary: 19.21/Hr. b) Week 2: Monday to Friday from 7:00 am - 5:00 pm + Mandatory Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 am – 2:00 pm. On this week, mandatory Sunday will be paid double if the worker has worked at least 50 hours that week. • Shift: No, we do not have different shifts. No rotating shifts., • Can they work extra days? With Approval, paid at normal rate., • How often can they expect to work extra days? 2 days, • Payment Days: Thursday, • Payment Type: Direct Deposit., • Rest Breaks: One Hour Lunch, not paid for. Duties Include: • Provide care for all incoming cattle, processed cattle, sick cattle, and sale cattle, • All incoming, processed, sick, and sale cattle updated within the Computer System, • Perform vaccinations, identification for cattle on incoming loads, • Check all incoming cattle for health status, appropriate paperwork, headcount, etc., • Load cattle for sale and unload arriving cattle, • All cattle will be sorted and moved according to home pen weight status, • Coordinate sorts and movement with the office/feed crew, • Communicate with Consulting Veterinarian on standard treatments, cattle health and processing regimens, • Ensure adequate animal health product inventory for doctoring, processing, and keep, • monthly inventory, • Analyze trends in sickness/treatments and look for possible causes to prevent future issues, • Ensure medical clearance and withdrawal times on all cattle being shipped, • Make sure the barn for the sick area is cleaned daily for sanitation purposes, • Perform regular maintenance of fences, waterers, and feeders to keep the facilities neat and orderly, • Provide ideas for new and innovative ways to provide care for the cattleQualifications Education and Experience • Prefer a two year degree in Animal Science (Not Required), • Experience in Cattle Handling a Plus (BQA certified), • Demonstrated problem solving skills & team building, • Good verbal & written communications skills, • Be a positive, productive member to produce a great culture Knowledge, Skills, Abilities • Demonstrate ability to build a high performance/engaged work environment, • Effective use of key performance indicators in an feedlot environment to drive results, • Demonstrate problem solving and decision making skills, • Ability to develop standards, and measure results TOOLS & EQUIPMENT • Syringes, Cattle Handling Working Equipment, 4-wheelers, computer, and other vehicles/equipment to use to complete jobs. Paid Sick Leave of 56 hours – Accrue 2.15 hours each bi-weekly pay period 2. Paid Time Off of 54 hours – Accrue .0231 for every hour worked, can accrue more than 54 hours in a year 3. Absence Time Off of 45 hours – If you use, no pay; if you don’t use, get paid out at the anniversary date.Can get additional PTO if working more hours than 45 hours in a week., • Additional bonuses: - Bonus Program: Usually this bonus is paid in December and can range from $250 to over a $1,000 based on abilities and time with the Company., • Employer provides housing for as long as the worker is employed in the company, at worker’s cost., • Housing Type Available: The employee will have housing to stay in. The employee is responsible for paying rent, utilities, and other miscellaneous items such as their own cable, mowing, etc. The rent will vary based on the type of housing. This rent could be $300 up to $650. As long as the employee is employed, they have the ability to stay in the housing. They are not required to stay in Company housing., • Number of Units: We have 61 housing units. Majority is housing but do have some apartment complexes. Assigned upon availability., • Rooms, Individual or Shared? The employee will have their own room., • Rent Per Person (free, subsidized, paid by employee): $300 - $650 based on the type of housing. Directly deducted from paycheck, and housing location is upon worksite and availability. Therefore, the price is by location., • For how long will you provide housing to the worker? As long as they work for the, • Company unless there is damage/unkept., • Utilities Included (Water, Gas, Garbage, Electricity, Wifi etc.): Employee is responsible for their own water, gas, electricity, etc., • Furnishing: We have a mix of furnished vs. not furnished. Again, it depends on where there is an opening for housing., • Laundry: Yes, • Is Laundry Coin Operated?: No, • Nearby amenities: The local community will have a grocery store, bank, etc. It will depend on the location on walking distance. We do have some locations that arewalking distance and majority of locations are not within walking distance., • Distance from Housing to Workplace: Ranges from 1 mile up to 20 miles
