Job DescriptionDescriptionThe Level 3 Mobile Technician is a skilled technician capable of handling a wide range of mechanical repairs and performing basic to intermediate diagnostics. This role is trusted to complete most standard repairs with limited supervision and continues to build diagnostic capability. Senior-level position – Generally has more than four years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. A level three technician has a broad knowledge of the field’s standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks; is self-starting and requires minimal supervision. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development. Essential Functions • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission, • Operates independently in a mobile service environment, managing time and workload across multiple job sites while responding to changing priorities and service needs, • Troubleshoots and diagnoses complex engine malfunctions and failures with minimum supervision, • Performs detailed engine and related equipment repairs on trucks and trailers with direction and minimum supervision, • Disassembles, inspects, determines parts required, and reassembles to factory specifications, • Provides quality control/assurance inspections of completed tasks to include road testing, • Uses computers and related software to assist in diagnosing and reprograming engines, • Completes documentation for service reports, timecards, parts requisition and returns, • Interprets and utilizes information from operating, maintenance, online resources, and service manuals/bulletins, • Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates, • Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations, • Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in a good, clean, and working order, • Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed, • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs, • Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance, • Acts as a mentor and coach to lower level Technicians, • Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training, • Consistently maintains an average rework of less than 0.5%, • Ensures a positive average variance consistently, • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards, • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance, • Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Ability to complete all Level 3 curriculum pathway requirements as outlined in the Leveling Description Guide, • Ability to meet all technical and performance requirements for a Level 1 & 2 Technician, • Extensive knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance, • Expert knowledge and proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and electronic systems diagnostic tooling, • Operation and control skills of vehicle fleet, • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, • Verbal communication skills, • Excellent time management and organizational skills, • Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures, • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, • Ability to operate a conventional forklift, • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair & overhead crane, • Ability to operate a vehicle on public roads, • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects, • Ability to read, write, and understand information, • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences, • Ability to complete applicable HDSI VBL Classes, model HOLT's VBL Culture, and successfully apply the tools (Learn, Model, Teach, Measure) RequirementsEducation and Experience: Required • High school diploma or equivalent, accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program, • Minimum of four years of experience, • Completion of Levels 1 & 2 curriculum pathway requirements as outlined in the Leveling Description Guide, • Has met ProTech training requirements for preceding Technician levels; Ability to learn and model HOLT’s VBL Culture, • On-going Safety Training Preferred, • CDL – Class A or B, • ASE – Medium/Heavy Truck Certification, • AC Certification, • Brake System Certification Supervisory Responsibilities:, • NoneTravel:, • Up to 100% travel or overnight stays, • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving recordAdditional Requirements:, • Must own and maintain the necessary tools to efficiently perform the job, • Completion of the HOLT Truck - Tech Level 1-3 International Alignment Training Module*, • Minimum 26 billed hours per week (65% proficiency)Physical Requirements:, • Significant amount of time spent standing, • Constant movement and use of hands, this position requires good manual dexterity, • Communication with customers and constant communication with co-workers, • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work, • Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue, • Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment, • Lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 50 lbs., • Occasional kneeling, crouching, stooping, crawling, reaching, and balancing, • Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipmentWork Environment:, • Works primarily in a mobile, field-based environment servicing equipment at customer locations, requiring travel between job sites and varying work conditions, • May work indoors around moving mechanical parts, • May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity, • Frequently works in an enclosed vehicle or equipment, • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment, • Exposure to high noise levels, • Works in extremely bright or inadequate lighting, • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment, • Exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stingsDisclaimer: Please note that the above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
