Job Description Job Summary: Diagnoses, repairs, reconditions, and adjusts key systems and components of On-Highway Trucks and related equipment. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development. Essential Functions: • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission, • Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures, • Performs major engine repairs and related equipment repairs, • Disassembles, inspects, determines parts required, and reassembles to factory specifications within TRGs, • Provides quality control/assurance inspections of completed tasks, • Prepares required documentation needed to complete repair orders, • Performs Failure Analysis of failed engine components, • Provides training and mentoring to Junior Technicians, • Assists the service writer/supervisor with operations, e.g., work orders and authorizations, • Uses computers and related software to assist in diagnosing and reprograming engines, • Completes documentation for service reports, timecards, parts requisition and returns, • Interprets and utilizes information from operating, maintenance, online resources, and service manuals/bulletins, • Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates, • Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations, • Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in a good, clean, and working order, • Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed, • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs, • Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance, • Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training, • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards, • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance, • Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • General knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance, • Knowledge and proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and On-Highway Truck electronic systems diagnostic tooling, • Operation and control skills of On-Highway Trucks & Trailers, • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, • Verbal communication skills, • Exceptional skills in customer service, • Excellent time management and organizational skills, • Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures, • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, • Ability to operate a conventional forklift, • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair & overhead crane, • Ability to operate an On-Highway Truck on public roads, • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands in order to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects, • Ability to read, write, and understand information, • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences, • Ability to complete HOLT's VBL Classes, model HOLT's VBL Culture, and successfully apply the tools (Teach) Education and Experience: • High school diploma or equivalent , accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program required, • Five or more years required, • One or more years supervisory/lead experience required, • CDL – Class A or B required, • ASE – Master Medium/Heavy Truck Certification required, • Conventional forklift license required, • Has met HDSI requirements for preceding Technician levels; Ability to model and teach Holt’s VBL Culture, • On-going Safety Training required Supervisory Responsibilities: • None Travel: • Limited travel or overnight stays, limited travel to customer sites may be expected, • Travel to other stores that require help during times of heavy workloads may be expected Additional Requirements: • Must own and maintain the necessary tools to efficiently perform the job, • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record Physical Requirements: • Significant amount of time spent standing, • Constant movement and use of hands, this position requires good manual dexterity, • Communication with customers and constant communication with co-workers, • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work, • Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue, • Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment, • Lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 50 lbs., • Occasional kneeling, crouching, stooping, crawling, reaching, and balancing, • Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment Work Environment: • Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts, • May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity, • Frequently works in an enclosed vehicle or equipment, • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment, • Exposure to high noise levels, • Works in extremely bright or inadequate lighting, • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment, • Exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings Disclaimer: Please note that the above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
