Job Description East Coast Construction Services, LLC (ECCS) is a growing Southeastern U.S. industrial electrical contractor specializing in complex power distribution, instrumentation, controls, and automation projects for pharmaceuticals, water treatment, biofuels, textiles, and food-grade manufacturing. Projects range from $500K to $20M, emphasizing safety, precision, quality, and innovative process solutions. Role Summary We seek an experienced Lead Journeyman Electrician / Instrumentation Technician with proven small-crew leadership (2–6 members) on industrial sites. This hybrid hands-on role blends journeyman-level electrical installation and troubleshooting with advanced instrumentation calibration, loop integration, and control system expertise. The lead supervises crew, mentors apprentices, enforces safety, and delivers reliable electrical power and process instrumentation systems. Key Responsibilities • Lead and direct small crews to complete safe, efficient, code-compliant electrical and instrumentation installations, • Install, terminate, troubleshoot, and commission wiring, conduit, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, VFDs, PLCs, motor controls, and industrial control panels, • Install, calibrate, loop-check, and maintain process instrumentation including sensors, transmitters (pressure, temperature, flow, level), analyzers, control valves, actuators, and relays, • Integrate and troubleshoot automation components such as PLCs, VFDs, soft starters, HMIs, and SCADA interfaces, • Read and interpret electrical drawings, control schematics, loop diagrams, P&IDs, and instrumentation specifications, • Perform lockout/tagout, job safety analyses, and full compliance with NEC (2023), OSHA 1910/1926, and site-specific safety standards, • Diagnose and repair low- to medium-voltage power systems and process control/instrumentation loops to minimize downtime, • Mentor apprentices and helpers, ensuring skill development and safe practices, • Document installations, calibrations, testing, loop checks, and as-builts using tools like Procore, Excel, or similar, • Coordinate with trades, engineers, and clients to resolve field issues and support project schedules Qualifications • Valid North Carolina Journeyman Electrician license (preferred), • Instrumentation certification or equivalent experience strongly preferred, • 5+ years of industrial electrical construction/maintenance experience, • 2+ years leading or directing small crews in industrial environments, • Strong hands-on expertise in both electrical and instrumentation systems, including:, • PLC installation, basic programming, and troubleshooting, • VFD setup, configuration, and commissioning, • Motor controls, process instrumentation (transmitters, valves, analyzers), • Calibration, loop tuning, and instrumentation troubleshooting (pressure, flow, level, temperature), • Integration of sensors, actuators, relays, and control elements, • Thorough knowledge of NEC (2023), OSHA standards, lockout/tagout, and industrial safety practices, • Proficiency reading complex industrial electrical drawings, P&IDs, loop sheets, and schematics, • Valid NC Driver's License (required), • OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred, • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, • Basic computer skills (Excel/Google Sheets); Procore or CMMS experience a plus, • Willingness to travel within the Southeast as needed Compensation and Benefits • Competitive hourly rate based on experience, leadership, and hybrid skill set, • Health insurance, 401(k) match, PTO, paid holidays, • Tool allowance, ongoing training, and reimbursement for certifications (e.g., instrumentation credentials, advanced controls, NC Electrical Contractor license) Career Growth ECCS offers advancement to Foreman, General Foreman, or Project Management roles, with support for licensing, safety training, and specialized instrumentation/automation development in a growing firm.
