Job Description Are you passionate about helping people reach their career goals? We are looking for a motivated Career Advisor I to provide career coaching, job search support, and workforce services to individuals seeking employment and professional growth. In this role, you will help job seekers explore career options, build their skills, connect with training opportunities, and prepare for successful employment. Pay: $23 an hour Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM What You'll Do As a Career Advisor, you will: • Provide career coaching and guidance to job seekers, • Assess customers' work history, skills, interests, and career goals, • Help individuals identify career options and develop realistic employment plans, • Assist customers with resumes, job applications, interview preparation, and job search strategies, • Conduct career assessments and help identify training and development needs, • Provide information about local job opportunities, industries, qualifications, and expected pay, • Connect customers with workforce programs and services they may qualify for, • Conduct customer intake and assist with program eligibility requirements, • Refer participants to training programs, apprenticeships, work-based learning, and other professional development opportunities, • Provide information about education, financial aid, scholarships, and training providers, • Prepare and submit Individual Training Account (ITA), work-based training, and supportive service requests, • Maintain regular contact with assigned customers and monitor their progress toward employment, education, or training goals, • Manage customer information and enter accurate case notes and service information into required systems, • Screen and refer qualified participants to job opportunities, • Work closely with internal teams, employers, community partners, and other organizations to identify employment opportunities, • Help customers overcome barriers that may impact their ability to successfully reach their goals, • Ensure customer files and documentation meet required local, state, and federal standards What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will have: • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, • Experience in workforce development, career coaching, case management, or a related field, • The ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with different needs, • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills, • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, • Experience handling challenging or difficult customer situations, • Knowledge of career counseling, workforce services, and employment resources, • Strong computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and other technology, • The ability to manage multiple customers, priorities, and deadlines, • Strong organizational and documentation skills, • The ability to build positive working relationships with customers, coworkers, community partners, and the public Education & Experience • High School Diploma or GED required, • Associate degree or bachelor's degree preferred, • Previous workforce development or related experience strongly preferred, • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred, • Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and a good driving record required Work Environment This position primarily works in an office environment. Occasional driving or travel may be required, and flexibility in work hours may be needed. The position may require occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
