Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook), • Highly motivated and organized with a strong attention to detail and analytical skills to help solve problems., • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing., • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgment., • Ability to keep up to date with policies, practices, and regulations., • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and capable of dealing with deadline pressures., • Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations as well as policies and procedures of Unity., • Satisfy mandatory training requirements regarding local, state, and federal regulations and/or Unity’s policies and procedures. The dietary aide is responsible for reviewing patient’s food preferences, meal preparation and planning, serving food, maintaining a clean working environment, and engaging with volunteers. • Prepares meals according to patient preferences., • Under the direction of the dietary manager, cook meals in quantities according to the menu and patient census., • Excellent time management and organization skills, • Maintains compliance with all health codes including cooking, serving, storing, and cooling foods at appropriate temperatures., • Works with patients and families to develop an understanding of patient’s food and diet preferences or restrictions., • Consult with facility staff, dietitian, or supervisor as needed., • Ensures kitchen and entire dietary department area is cleaned daily according to regulations and tasks assigned by kitchen manager., • Washes all utensils and dishes used in food preparation after each meal., • Maintains appropriate recordings of food temperatures., • All staff must follow proper handwashing and personal hygiene practices to prevent the spread of illnesses and ensure a safe working environment., • Attend all mandatory in-services and participate in staff meetings as designated by the supervisor., • Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor., • Maintains strict confidentiality of patient and family information., • Works closely with the dietary team and caregivers to ensure seamless meal delivery, • Assist with training new dietary staff as needed, • Provides for a safe environment for patients, guests, visitors, and employees., • Adheres to all policies, procedures, and regulations regarding patient care, conduct, safety, fire, security and risk management., • Provides excellent customer service to all patients, families, caregivers, coworkers, vendors, and physicians., • Carries out duties and responsibilities of the position in a manner that exemplifies excellent customer service., • Consistently represents the Facility to all internal and external customers with integrity and professionalism., • Supports organizational/departmental efforts focused on continuous improvement. Physical and Environmental Requirements: Employees must have the ability to; operate computers, telephones, and other office equipment, communicate both verbally and in writing, sit for prolonged periods of time as required by position, walk, bend, and lift up to 10 pounds on occasion, organize and prioritize tasks.
