Job DescriptionJob Title: Warehouse Material Handler Job Description The Warehouse Material Handler plays a key role in the safe, accurate, and efficient movement, storage, and distribution of materials within a warehouse and production facility. You will support daily operations by receiving, storing, picking, packing, and delivering materials to the appropriate locations while maintaining inventory accuracy, adhering to production goals, and following strict safety standards at all times. Responsibilities • Receive, inspect, and unload incoming materials and products, ensuring accuracy and quality., • Accurately pick, pack, stage, and transport materials to designated locations within the warehouse or production areas., • Load and unload trucks, containers, and pallets using manual methods and approved material handling equipment., • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, order pickers, and other warehouse equipment as trained and certified., • Perform regular cycle counts and manual inventory counts to maintain accurate inventory records., • Enter data into computer systems to support inventory control, shipping, receiving, and production tracking., • Label, sort, and store materials according to established procedures and storage guidelines., • Prepare materials for shipment, including packing, labeling, and completing required documentation., • Operate saws and related equipment as needed to support production and material preparation., • Use basic math skills and measurement tools, including rulers, to verify dimensions and quantities., • Identify damaged, non-conforming, or incorrect materials and promptly report issues to supervision., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company policies and safety standards., • Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of equipment., • Support warehouse production by meeting efficiency and production targets while maintaining quality and safety., • Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure materials are delivered to the right place at the right time., • Perform other warehouse, material handling, shipping, receiving, and general labor duties as assigned.Essential Skills, • High school diploma or GED., • At least 1+ years of warehouse and production experience in a metals facility or manufacturing-related environment., • Hands-on experience with material handling in a warehouse or production setting., • Forklift operation experience, including sit-down and stand-up forklifts., • Experience with pallet jacks, order pickers, and other material handling equipment., • Background in warehouse operations, inventory control, and shipping and receiving., • Ability to perform cycle counts and maintain accurate warehouse inventory records., • Basic computer skills, including use of inventory systems and Microsoft Office Suite., • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions., • Basic math skills and the ability to use measurement tools such as rulers for reading measurements., • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift., • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull materials, often up to 50 pounds., • Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions in a warehouse environment., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all tasks., • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment., • Willingness to work in varying temperatures and industrial conditions., • Strong focus on safety and adherence to safety procedures at all times.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Previous experience in a warehouse or material handling role, particularly in metals or manufacturing environments., • Forklift or powered industrial truck certification, or the ability to obtain certification., • Experience with warehouse production environments that emphasize efficiency and production targets., • Familiarity with packing, packaging, loading, order picking, and general labor tasks., • Experience in shipping and receiving operations, including documentation and coordination., • Comfort using Microsoft Office Suite for basic documentation and communication., • Ability to adapt to different departments, including MCO and Shipping, with varying shift schedules., • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and report issues with materials or processes., • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic suited to a high-expectation production environment.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a warehouse and production facility with approximately 150–160 full-time employees. The environment includes active production areas, moving equipment, and varying temperatures typical of an industrial setting. Safety procedures must be followed at all times, and personal protective equipment is provided and required. Dress expectations include jeans, a t-shirt, steel-toed shoes, and assigned PPE. The facility places high expectations on production numbers and efficiencies, and work involves frequent use of forklifts, pallet jacks, saws, and other material handling equipment, as well as computer systems for inventory and data entry. Standard warehouse and production shifts are available, including 1st shift (6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.), 2nd shift (2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.), and 3rd shift (10:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.). For certain MCO and Shipping roles, shifts may follow standard hours such as 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., depending on departmental needs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.20 - $20.20/hr.
