Job DescriptionJob Title: Warehouse Worker Job Description This role combines warehouse operations and machine operation, with approximately half of the time spent on general warehouse duties and the other half on operating production machinery. You will work in a steel-focused environment and receive on-the-job training to become proficient in equipment and processes while supporting efficient material flow and inventory accuracy. Responsibilities • Perform general warehouse duties, including receiving, storing, organizing, and staging materials to support daily production needs., • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely to move, load, and unload steel materials and products., • Load and unload trucks and production lines, ensuring materials are handled correctly and placed in designated locations., • Pick and prepare materials and orders accurately according to production schedules and work orders., • Operate production machinery after on-site training, following standard operating procedures and safety guidelines., • Monitor machine operation during production runs and report any issues or irregularities to the appropriate personnel., • Assist with basic machine setup, changeovers, and adjustments as directed by supervisors or experienced operators., • Maintain accurate inventory by counting, tracking, and recording materials and finished goods as needed., • Keep work areas, including warehouse and production zones, clean, organized, and free of hazards., • Follow all safety policies and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of equipment., • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and maintain smooth workflow across shifts., • Participate in cross-training to support multiple functions within the warehouse and production environment.Essential Skills, • Previous warehouse experience in a production, distribution, or manufacturing environment., • Experience with machine operation or a strong aptitude and willingness to learn machine operation through on-site training., • Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely., • Experience with loading, unloading, and picking materials in a warehouse or production setting., • Basic understanding of inventory practices, including counting and tracking materials., • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, including safety procedures and standard operating procedures., • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate picking, loading, and material handling., • Ability to work on different shifts, including 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift, as scheduled., • Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and move materials throughout the shift in a warehouse environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Prior machine operation experience in a manufacturing or steel-related environment is highly beneficial., • Comfort working in a steel warehouse or similar industrial setting., • Willingness to be cross-trained across multiple warehouse and production functions., • Strong work history demonstrating reliability and consistency in previous roles., • Good communication skills to interact effectively with supervisors and team members., • Openness to continuous learning and skill development through on-site training.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a steel-focused warehouse and production facility that operates multiple shifts. The role is split between warehouse work and machine operation, with approximately 50% of your time in each area. You may work on 1st shift (5:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (1:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.) with a shift differential, or 3rd shift (9:00 p.m. – 5:30 a.m.) with an additional shift differential. You will work around forklifts, material handling equipment, and production machinery in an industrial setting. The facility emphasizes on-site training and cross-training, so you can expect to learn multiple processes and equipment. The environment is active and hands-on, requiring regular standing, walking, lifting, and moving materials throughout the shift, with appropriate attire and safety gear suitable for a steel warehouse and production floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.50/hr.
