We have the gallery. We have the artists. We have the exhibitions and artwork. We need buyers. This is a sales and business-development position. Your primary responsibility will be identifying potential buyers, developing relationships, generating qualified leads, and ultimately helping sell artwork. What You’ll Do • Research and identify potential art buyers and commercial clients, • Make outbound calls and emails to qualified prospects, • Build relationships with interior designers, art consultants, architects, hotels, restaurants, developers, hospitality groups, offices, retailers and other businesses purchasing art, • Identify and develop prospective private collectors, • Follow up with qualified gallery visitors and sales inquiries, • Maintain an organized database/CRM of prospects and conversations, • Send artwork information, catalogs and pricing to interested buyers, • Schedule gallery appointments with qualified prospects, • Consistently follow up with leads, • Develop new B2B accounts and long-term client relationships, • Work directly with the Gallery Director to understand available artwork and identify appropriate buyers What This Role Is NOT This is not a curatorial position. You will not be responsible for: • Finding or recruiting artists, • Reviewing artist portfolios, • Selecting artwork, • Curating exhibitions, • Developing exhibition concepts, • Managing artist submissions, • Programming the gallery Those responsibilities remain with the Gallery Director. Your focus is the other side of the gallery: finding the people who buy the art. Who We’re Looking For You do not necessarily need traditional gallery experience. We are interested in someone who is: • Comfortable making outbound calls, • Persistent without being aggressive, • Personable and professional, • Organized with follow-up, • Comfortable speaking with business owners and design professionals, • Interested in contemporary art and photography, • Entrepreneurial, • Excited by building something at an early stage, • Motivated by sales and measurable results Experience in sales, business development, luxury retail, hospitality, interior design, real estate, art sales or client relations is especially valuable. Compensation This is an early-stage, commission-based opportunity. The gallery is currently in its startup/growth stage and cannot offer a traditional salary at this time. Compensation is tied directly to sales and accounts generated by the associate, with uncapped commission potential. We are looking for someone who understands the nature of joining a young business early and is interested in helping build its commercial operation. As the gallery grows and reaches sustainable revenue and/or secures additional financing, there may be an opportunity for this role to develop into a regular paid position with expanded responsibility. About the Gallery We are a young, independent storefront contemporary art gallery in Brooklyn, presenting photography and contemporary artwork through exhibitions, artist programming and public events. We have already established the physical gallery, exhibition program and growing roster of artists. Our next priority is building a stronger collector base and developing relationships with the commercial, hospitality and design industries. To Apply Please send a résumé and a brief introduction explaining why you are interested in being a pioneer in Greenpoint's new art gallery.
