Job Description Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer serves as a key strategic partner and advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team. As a strategic partner and advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, the CFO is crucial. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)'s CFO ensures fiscal integrity, openness, and compliance with nonprofit and governmental financing regulations. This job develops financial strategy, improves resource allocation to MADD's mission, and ensures the organization's financial stability. Mission-oriented, proactive, and inventive financial executives with experience in nonprofit accounting, government grant administration, and strategic financial leadership are ideal candidates. This is a hybrid position, requiring the ideal applicant to reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth region. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and Board of Directors, contributing to organizational strategy, sustainability, and impact., • Develop and implement financial policies, systems, and practices that support operational excellence, risk management, and transparency., • Provide accurate and timely financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis to inform strategic decision-making., • Develop and present visually compelling presentations to communicate financial concepts to nonfinancial audiences., • Lead the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets; ensure alignment with strategic priorities and programmatic goals., • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, procurement, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and financial statement preparation., • Lead treasury and investment management activities to manage cash, liquidity, and risk while investing excess funds to generate returns and secure and maintain credit facilities, • Ensure Compliance with GAAP, OMB Uniform Guidance, and all federal, state, and private grant requirements., • Lead the annual independent fiscal and single audits process, ensuring timely submission of audited financial statements, tax filings, and grant reports to meet compliance requirements and maintain transparency with stakeholders., • Oversight of preparation of the annual 990 Information Return, and various state-required annual business filings and tax-related matters., • Provide oversight of the 403b plan as a member of the Retirement Plan Committee and preparation of the annual 403B audit and Form 5500 filing., • Maintain and enhance internal control systems to safeguard assets and ensure accountability., • Oversee the financial management of all government and private grants, including budgeting, tracking, reporting, and compliance., • Partner with program leadership to ensure timely, accurate grant expenditures and documentation., • Establish and maintain systems for monitoring restricted funds and ensuring compliance with donor intent., • Collaborate with Development, Mission Operations, Legal, and People & Culture teams to ensure alignment between financial planning and program delivery., • Support the Finance and Investment and Audit and Risk Committees of the Board by providing clear and concise financial reporting and recommendations., • Lead discovery, selection, and implementation of financial systems in coordination with IT to provide effective and efficient financial management applications., • Provide leadership in managing enterprise risk in partnership with the Legal team., • Foster positive relationships with external partners, including funders, banks, investment advisors, auditors, and government agencies., • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team that embodies MADD’s core values of mission focus, integrity, collaboration, belonging, accountability, and recognition., • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA strongly preferred., • Minimum 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior financial role within a complex nonprofit organization., • Proven expertise in government grant management (federal, state, and local), including compliance with OMB Uniform Guidance., • Experience managing multi-entity or multi-state operations, preferably within mission-driven organizations., • Strong knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and Acumatica ). Exceptional financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic planning skills., • Strong understanding of nonprofit GAAP, fund accounting, and restricted fund management., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts for diverse audiences., • Demonstrated integrity, ethical leadership, and commitment to advancing MADD’s mission., • Mission-Driven Leadership: Aligns financial decisions with MADD’s mission to end impaired driving and support victims., • Strategic Thinking: Anticipates long-term trends and implications, proactively positioning the organization for success., • Operational Excellence: Establishes efficient processes and promotes accountability at all levels., • Collaboration and Influence: Builds cross-functional partnerships and trust across teams.
