Job Description Purpose of Role: We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized, and proactive Litigation Legal Assistant to support attorneys within the firm’s litigation practice in Roseland, NJ. This is a full-time, in-person role supporting Partners and attorneys within our Elder Law and Trusts & Estates practice, handling estate and probate litigation, guardianship proceedings, general equity matters, and related civil litigation. This role is well suited for someone comfortable working across diverse types of matters, including sensitive situations involving families, fiduciary appointments, and court proceedings. You will help keep cases organized and move efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Responsibilities: • Perform daily administrative and litigation support tasks, including document preparation, file organization, data management, and calendaring of critical deadlines., • Prepare, revise, proofread, and finalize legal documents, including pleadings, motions, certifications, orders to show cause, probate and guardianship filings, and correspondence., • Coordinate and maintain attorney calendars, including court appearances, depositions, mediations, hearings, client meetings, and filing deadlines., • Assist with guardianship and probate litigation matters, including assembling filings, coordinating supporting documentation, and tracking court requirements, • Electronically file legal documents in state and federal courts, including NJ E-Courts, NYSCEF, and PACER., • Assist attorneys with discovery management, document productions, exhibit preparation, and trial support, • Maintain organized case files (physical and electronic) across probate, general equity, and civil litigation matters (e.g., guardianship hearings, estate disputes), • Communicate with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and third parties regarding scheduling, document requests, and case status, • Support matters involving fiduciary roles (Executor, Trustee, Guardian Ad Litem), including tracking deadlines and required actions, • Enter attorney time, assist with billing coordination, and support overall matter management, • Coordinate travel, meetings, and other administrative support as needed, • Support multiple attorneys and manage competing priorities effectively, • Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet litigation deadlines and business needs. Qualifications: • Minimum of 4+ years of experience as a legal assistant supporting litigation attorneys in a law firm environment., • Experience with probate litigation, guardianships, estate administration, or general civil/equity litigation preferred, • Bachelor’s degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent experience preferred, • Strong knowledge of New Jersey court procedures and e-filing systems, New York and Connecticut experience is a plus, • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), • Experience with document management systems such as NetDocuments, SurePoint, or similar platforms preferred., • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • High level of discretion and ability to manage sensitive information, • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team Compensation & Benefits: This position offers a salary range of $75,000 - $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications. Support staff may also be eligible for discretionary year-end bonuses and a merit-based increase.
