Job Description Full Time / Part Time / Relief Veterinarian & Technician position available Animal Hospital and Dental Clinic is seeking a Medical Director and or an Associate Veterinarian to join our team in the Central Valley of California. We are near the mountains and the lakes with some cold seasons and some very warm ones. Perfect for someone that likes the work/ play balance. We are now under new leadership following 2017 and excited to expand our practice. Our rebrand in 2018 allowed us to really focus on preventative medicine as well as dentistry, while still seeing our Birds and Exotics. We have digital X-ray as well as Dental x-ray on a mobile unit, new Aloka ultrasound, and a full in-house IDEXX laboratory. Doctors with strong client communication skills, special interests and a collegial demeanor are encouraged to apply. Experienced doctors’ and new graduates are welcome, MEDICAL DIRECTOR In partnership with the Hospital Manager, the Managing DVM is responsible for the financial performance of the hospital, preparing operating and capital budgets, and meeting budget expectations. In addition, the Hospital Manager and Managing DVM are responsible for directing staff and the overall management of the practice, under the direction of AHDC Leadership. Advancing Medical Care • Oversees surgical and medical cases for all doctors, insuring positive outcomes, accurate estimates, and client communication and education., • Maintains and improves quality of medical and surgical procedures., • Answers client questions and concerns regarding medical and surgical procedures., • Oversight and direction of medical standards and quality of care., • Establishment of medical protocols., • Recommendation of hospital inventory., • Assure current licensure of all DVMs., • Documents the required hours of continuing education credits per calendar year and CE completion., • Participates in the recruiting and interviewing process for DVMs, and when appropriate general staff members., • Monitors DVM performance and production., • Prepares DVM work schedules., • Develops and monitors hospital-specific client compliance protocols and procedures., • Participates in technician appraisal and counseling sessions by relaying appropriate information to the Hospital Manager., • Partners with the Hospital Manager to make hiring and termination recommendations., • Trains all medical staff, including the mentoring of new graduates., • Supports the Hospital Manager in the development and delivery of staff training programs., • Creates a positive work environment and works with the Hospital Manager to resolve staff problems, concerns, and conflicts., • In partnership with the Hospital Manager, develops a workplace conductive to high employee morale, ensuring positive working relationships between clients, doctors and staff., • Responsible for the financial performance of the hospital including revenue and hospital contribution growth, which includes managing all hospital expenses., • With the hospital team and supported by the Divisional Leadership, prepares an annual planning matrix, operating budget and capital budget., • Partners with the Hospital Manager to drive patient visits and community involvement., • Capable of championing change and driving innovative programs in the hospital., • Monitors client service, marketing, and NVA growth initiatives, • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university, • Licensure in good standing to practice in the state in which applicant is to be employed, • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, • A commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics, • The ability to delegate responsibility and achieve results with hospital team members, • Capable of quality decision making, • The ability to coach, correct, develop, and motivate employees, • Demonstrates excellent time and task management, • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation with staff and clients ASSOCIATE VETERINARIAN Job Summary In addition to the responsibilities outlined below, the Associate Veterinarian is an invaluable member of the hospital team who works directly with supporting medical staff. This individual advances the quality of medicine in the practice and provides exceptional client service to our clients and patients. Job Responsibilities • Builds rapport with clients by gathering information and listening to, and empathizing with their concerns, • Performs physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures that deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort., • Communicates with clients on topics such as pet diagnosis, treatment plans, preventive health care, and nutritional needs., • Maintains client/patient medical/surgical records and makes certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols., • Stays current on new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine., • Assists in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service., • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or related degree from an accredited university., • Licensure in good standing to practice in the state in which applicant is to be employed., • Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding veterinary code of ethics., • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills., • Works collaboratively with hospital team members., • Makes decisions confidently and effectively., • Manages time and tasks appropriately., • Models a professional and courteous manner with staff and clients. TECHNICIAN Veterinary RVT and Technicians : • Fell comfortable to observe the behavior and condition of animals and know what to do or who to talk to., • Provide nursing care or emergency first aid to recovering or injured animals following doctors instruction., • Bathe animals, clip nails or claws, and brush or cut animals’ hair, when needed even though seldom is grooming done., • Restrain animals during exams or procedures., • Administer anesthesia to animals, and monitor their responses, when requested by the doctor., • Take x rays and collect and perform laboratory tests, such as urinalyses and blood counts., • Prepare animals and instruments for surgery., • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments prescribed by a veterinarian., • Collect and record animal’ case histories., • Answer phones, assist clients and be able to train in reception to help when reception is busy. (Make and file charts, input charges, answer questions and be able to assist with check in and out after an appointment.
