Student success coach and mentor (entry level, paid, full-time) City Year AmeriCorps Member About City Year City Year, an AmeriCorps program, helps students across schools succeed. Teams of City Year AmeriCorps members provide support to students, classrooms and the whole school, helping to ensure that students in schools receive a high-quality education that prepares them with the skills and mindset to thrive and contribute to their community. Our emergent, project-based curriculum is developed by our teachers through research, scaffolding curriculum based on developmental milestones, and creativity, in response to the interests of the children in the class. Preferred candidates will demonstrate skill in observing, building exciting curriculum in all developmental domains, working collaboratively with colleagues, and a passion for working with children and families in a kind, present way. The teacher will be attentive to children’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. In addition, the Lead Teacher will be caring for the physical and emotional well-being of any child in the program, and particularly their classroom. The ideal candidate is a dedicated educator and musician who has 2+ years of experience teaching students from ages 8 to 11. Classes will take place on Tuesdays from 245-4:30 p.m. Third Street began providing music instruction to public school students in 1959. Today, Third Street partners with 30+ public schools across NYC. The goal of these partnerships is to improve the lives of students through music and dance.
